Andy BURNBAUM, website oldmoparts.com, has a lot of resto parts for Mopars. The clown stung me on this, his website lists door glass channel that is supposedly for the vent window channel (front of door glass slides in) on 57-61 Mopars. What he sends you is absolutely 100% the wrong part, it is impossible to use it on Mopars. These cars need the sold-by-the-foot glue-in channel liner, NOT the steel-backed channel that some cars use.
After much searching I found this on eBay, this stuff is what you need:http://www.ebay.com/itm/UNIVERSAL-DOOR-GLASS-RUN-CHANNEL-LINER-WEATHERSTRIP-/300891743246#lensaction=300891743246%7Cclnw-collect%7C

In my books he's a completely inconsiderate jackass for knowingly selling the wrong part to probably thousands of people, when the correct stuff is obviously available. And you could say, well just return it, but at least here in Canada it would be a money losing deal to ship it back to him.

Vent windows use a complete moulded rubber insert to my knowledge.
Where would this channel cloth material go in the vent windowframe according to you?

Got nothing to do with the vent window proper.
It's the rear of the vent window post that the door glass slides up and down in on a hardtop.

See this thread for instructions. The HT uses the glue in "mohair" strips, while the sedans have the channel system

Actually sorry to clarify, yes it seems only hardtops from 57-9, however starting in 1960 all models use the same width of front door glass channel from ragtops to 4 door sedans, just measured and confirmed that. Therefore all '60 up cars need the glue in stuff unless someone has a lead on anything otherwise. It's too narrow a channel for pre-made channel, if that makes any sense. Just hoping to save anyone else the frustration.

I've bought from Andy before. He can be a bit gruff, but everything I purchased from him I was quite happy with.

Gord, you are absolutely correct. I have known Andy for countless years. IMHO, everything he sold was correct, or, at least did his best to have things repro'd to his best standards. Shortly I will try to post pics of his vent window glass run channels installed on my car. They are perfect!!!

Hi Greg.
I used the Bernbaum window glass run channels and my windows are a lot harder to wind up and down than I would like. (They wound up and down freely prior to the glass run channels being installed so I know it's them at fault.)
I'm watching this thread with anticipation that the mohair channel liner material may be the solution I am looking for..
Glenn.

Hi Glenn,
I agree with you too!! I suppose I have installed dozens of these and some I bought from Andy and some from GG.

I used a piece of window glass that I would "bend" from side to side, pushing hard, to sort of loosen the fit. Of course, this has to be done off the car and it worked very well. A tight fit after the fact is a difficult situation. I tried silicone spray, gel and even white grease. The grease was the best! Long term!

Hey, to make it all nice, neat and factory looking you cannot use the fabric liners. You will be left with ragged fuzzy edges that you will not be happy with either. Get it all nice and 2 months later it looks like crap again! I used that stuff years ago!

Gotta love restoring Mopars!!

Here is the steel backed glass run channel installed in the car. Bought from either Andy or GG and has had glass running up and down for more than 15 years! Elec window too.

Years ago, after being frustrated by GG's channel, which was too narrow, Glenn recommended getting the channel from JC Whitney. Their channel worked perfectly and now my windows work as expected.

Who /where/what is "GG"?

Good to know that steel backed channel is available somewhere. The front door glass's rear channel for my '60 Fury convertible was totally incorrect from burnbaum as well, and no amount of trying to widen it would do any good. The glue in stuff would have been the answer there too.

BTW, their small quantity pricing is expensive so get with your buddies and combine orders on a dollar basis. As I recall, I routinely placed orders above $1000.00 and the discount was something like 33%.

I bought chrome beaded sweepers (cat's whisker's) and glass run channel from Bernbaum for my '58 Dodge Coronet sedan a few years ago, and they fit well. I agree that the steel backed ones won't fit a hardtop. They should be more considerate of the customer!

I bought the fuzzies from Restoration Specialties years ago. They work perfectly and cost a fraction of Bernbum's stuff.
