I've pulled my dash apart and all the wiring is now in a box. The backside of the dash has some light surface rust and the rubber coating on the wire looms is long gone. I'm wondering if it's okay to blast and prime the back of the dash? Maybe even go crazy and put some color on it.

Or is it best to leave it raw metal so everything is grounded? I'm assuming that's how they get away without grounding individual switches and components.

Also the double lead connector for the reverse light switch has been hacked. Anyone have a source for factory style connectors?

Its fine to paint, but then sand the paint off at the bolt holes, the ground is via the metal surfaces. So make sure they are clean

I don’t know what year vehicle we are talking about but there was not much in the way of custom connectors back then if it is an “L” shape then it is probably the same as a flasher relay connector, used on nearly all vehicles from the first days of the flasher relay to the early 90’s, they are easy to get. But it seems to me they were 2 separate connectors, I would need to look it up, but they are also easy to find. Post a photo of your connector, how bad is it.

As you describe it I assume it is a 60s car. A "T", two wire connector?

It's more of an L shape and I'll be checking to find a flasher plug. Thanks guys.
