Board Moderator & Exner Expert 10K+ Location: .Norfolk..Mafia.. ,England UK | On US Ebay in Avondale, Pennsylvania, United States http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dodge-Lancer-Custom-Royal-1957-Custom-Royal... I'm selling my Swept Wing 1957 Dodge Custom Royal Lancer Sedan that is numbers matching and mostly all original. This is a nice cruiser to drive around and have a good time. Its not a trailer queen and far from a show car, but a nice honest driver to enjoy and do local cruises. The car is powered by a 325 Red Ram engine and a three speed push button Torque Flight Automatic Transmission. I picked this car up over a year ago and did all the mechanicals to make it road worthy / safe. The engine was pulled out and a mild rebuild / overhaul was conducted and I installed new rings, bearings, timing gear set and all new gaskets. At the time a complete tune up, rebuilt of the carburetor, starter, generator and Power Booster were done. The Push Button transmission was also removed and serviced, flushing it thoroughly and new seals and filter installed. The Rear Differential was flushed and new fluid was added. I installed a new gas tank, along with sending unit, fuel pump and new 3/8 aluminum fuel line. The entire braking system was also rebuilt, replace all wheel cylinders, brake shoes, Master Cylinder, rebuilt the brake booster and replaced every brake line on car for safety. The custom 2" exhaust (true dual exhaust) were professionally made from the front original exhaust manifolds to the original exhaust tips. The mufflers are manufactured by Dynomax and everything is welded together for a non leaking exhaust system. The car runs great and is dependable and has no known mechanical issues. There are also no fluid leaks what so ever throughout the vehicle. I also just installed new front and rear shocks, new Kenwood stereo and speakers. I have all receipts to verify the aforementioned information listed. The car still retains the factory am radio in the dash and it works but needs the dash speaker replaced. The tires are new and were replaced with vintage style Coker Classic bias tires for that original appearance. The car has power steering and drives straight down the road. Car has new carpeting and floor mats, NOS taillights along with many other items / parts throughout the car and I have touched upon most of them. This car is currently Pennsylvania registered and can be driven anywhere without any problems and the Pa plate is transferable if the winning bidder is a Pa resident and wants the plate. The car is driven daily and is trouble free. I'm selling this car to help fund my restoration of my other car, which is a 1959 Dodge Lancer. The vehicle is being sold with no warranty and none has been expressed or implied. A non refundable $500.00 deposit is required at the end of the auction and the remaining balance is due at the time of taking possession of the car. The high bidder / winner of this auction is responsible for any and all shipping fees. Inspection of the car is available and encouraged prior to the auction ending and is required for better communications. Any questions please contact me through Ebay or cell (302) 420-6647 Joe.

Posts: 19146 Location: bishop, ca | This would not be an inexpensive car to restore; all of the expensive items need work; dunno about how well the engine was done..lovely shade of black paint on it. BTW, "Lancer" was the term given to the hard top models. If this car were to be correctly restored, you'd be the only kid on your block (or, whatever they're called in Europe) to have one. Randy, you do not mean "driver"; you mean :'Beater' because that's what it is, now. It's got the rare signal-seeking three antennae on it. If they are dent free, the three 1958 stainless steel outer-discs would be valuable, with their OEM black finish. The spinners are probably pitted and need re-chroming. I'd be afraid to get wet, if caught in a storm, in this car. A big City 20-something Hipster could enjoy further degrading the car, with his buds and budesses, I suppose.

Expert Posts: 1385 Location: Ocala, Florida | Also noticed this car has 3 antennas! Degrading its sole purpose is to drive. I'm not saying just take a car into a storm but if it starts sprinkling no need to panic.

I'd let you drive H. (almost) anywhere...hell, three different Europeans have driven him at speed...so, it's nothing personal. This car is a leaker. And 'youngsters' like to take a car 'out' and see what it'll do. This dowager deserves some respect, in her old age, and a garage. Hipsters would leave it out on the street to get abused and vandalized. Edited by d500neil 2014-05-11 4:10 PM

One of the "horse's teeth" in evaluating the operational history of a car (especially a 'restored' car---which this one is obviously 'not') is the condition of the gauge needles. This guy's needles are faded out way beyond what someone would expect, from the car's physical condition, and the apparently-direct heat and sunlight also deteriorated the exposed upper area of the steering wheel. The sun probably burned the front seat bottom, and the dash pad. Maybe the sun hit the car from the right side (though a window, for a long time)? You can't really see the brake pedal's condition, but the pre-'repaired' engine was fairly grody condition. I hope this car gets restored, but it is not really a "Body-Man's" project.

Posts: 19146 Location: bishop, ca | One feature on this car that I am THRILLED to see is its vinyl covering over the filler tube. My car has that SAME covering, even 'down' to the horizontal seam on it, toward its lower extremity. That cover was on my car when I bought it, in 1980, and Horrie was in solid mostly-original #3 condition, and his trunk was fully 100% original, except for having had one of his OEM road-wheels being 'rotated' into the trunk---as you were supposed to do, back then. Speed Age's 4/58 1958 CRL D500 roadtest appears to show this same vinyl covering----and, maybe-even in the 1957 Coronet D500 that was tested in the 6/57 Sports cars Illustrated. Here's the Speed Age photo... (PICT0281.JPG) Attachments ---------------- PICT0281.JPG (72KB - 78 downloads)

Exner Expert 19,174 posts. Neil passed away 18 Sep 2015. You will be missed, Neil! Posts: 19146 Location: bishop, ca | The seller sent me the 'numbers' on this car. It was built o.o.a. 4/30/57, and is (duh) in its OEM colors, but its OEM options are very nice, having (at least...) T/Flite, heater/defroster, power brakes, an interesting Delivery Route: Truck and Drive, and three Accessory groups, which include such niceties as a padded rear seat, the radio (antennae are not confirmed on the P/T plate), variable speed wipers/Jiffy Jet, the accessory-lights, 2-tone steering wheel, but only the standard-plain wheel covers....which explains the retro-fitting of those 1958 Spinners on it. Forgot to ask him to check for its Broadcast Sheet, but will do that.
