Expert Posts: 2119 Location: atlanta | I know poeple all over the world are here, I'm not am alarmist, but this weather event we are going to get tomorrow is epic, a once in a lifetmie experience. I have read some comments elsewhere where northeners are laughing at us here around Atlanta about being p***y's, and how they can handle 15 inches of snow, and how 3 inches of snow is called July in Vermont, we aren't talking snow here, we're talking and inch of ice covered everything, this will be hell, and not just here up the carolina's also. I'll post if anyone's interested, but the power WILL go off at some time. I'm hunkered down, I have a bad feeling about my 61 vert on the carport,, there's a tree that has alway's leaned, but I don't know if it can handle what's coming. will take pics and post if the power is up. later Edited by fenix 2014-02-12 10:27 AM

It has been raining for quite some time, so we'll see what damage occurs this afternoon I suppose. Atlanta will be seeing more bad-bad throughout today and tonight. Y'all stay safe up there! Expert Posts: 2119 Location: atlanta | OK snow vets, it seems colder than it actually is, is that the ice covering everything and chilling everything? or is it just my perception? Here's a couple of pics taken at 12 noon today, the bulk of the storm is yet to come, but there's already ice on trees and lines. Elite Veteran Posts: 1172 Location: Georgia | By the look of that second photo, looks like the poor dog already had enough!! I suppose you still have power, Roger? It still has not dipped below freezing here (praise God!), just cold and rainy. The forecast is showing a low of 29 tonight, so we'll see how we are in the am! Pete

Elite Veteran Posts: 1172 Location: Georgia | Well, parts of middle Georgia are still without power and looks like will be for some time. The temperatures are well above freezing now, and the worst should be behind us. Below are two photos of what my world looked like yesterday morning. How'd y'all fair up thair, Roger? Expert Posts: 2119 Location: atlanta | We dodged the bullet up here, lots of snow/sleet/but not as much freezing rain as was forcast, the weather pattern changed and we didn't get the ise accumlination predicted, Charlotte didn't learn anyhting from Atlanta and it was a repeat of the unecsessary chaos up there. People stayed off the roads here, I haven't been anywhere since Tuesday myself, will venture out today, I haven't slept in about 36 hours, i'm scared to, if i do fall asleep the dogs may chew my legs off for running out of doggie treats. Elite Veteran Posts: 827 Location: tailFinland | How many of you belive in clobal climate change? Snow storms in Florida or Georgia may not seem like clobal warming. Here in Northern Europe in Eastern Finland, we have had a long winter with lot of snow and cold weather. In area I live, permanet snow falled in November December thru February weather used to cold from -5 to -30 degrees in celsius wich we have used to. Snow cover was about 3 feets thick ingeneral. People here is used to ski and do all kinda winter out door activities, ice fiching, drive their snow mobiles etc. Now winters has been changed. We do not have a white christmas, Permanet snow falls in January, There is about 3 inches of snow meaning you cant do crosscountry skiing, you'll break your expensive snow mobile it yout try to use it. You cant go on lakes (wich we have tens of thousands) to do anything cos ice is not thick enough and there is water cos it rains every other day. Temperatures are around zero celsius. Cold weather used to kill all bacteria, viruses, bugs, foreign insects in couble of weeks in mid winter time. It just does not happen anymore. Summers could be rainy or hot, anything. It could be hot 5 weeks in a row or cold and rainy all summer. Couble years ago temperature record was 38 C (101 F) an whole summer was hot. Not much in Georgia but this place is just 400 miles bellow arctic sircle. This is not fun anymore Edited by Adventurer 60 2014-02-19 6:11 PM
