Extreme Veteran Posts: 470 Location: the Great Northeast | I am sorry to report that a pair of 8 and 10 year old boys vandalized a '61 300 here in Skowhegan Maine. Unbelievable! http://www.onlinesentinel.com/news/Two-young-boys-charged-in-vandal... Of course, the damage is not covered by insurance.

Location: NE Ohio | seems kind of young for vandals.....Where were the parents? Skowhegan is out in the middle of nowhere (been through there a few times)

Expert Posts: 2312 Location: Arizona | I don't understand the "damage is not covered by insurance" part. In one part of the article it talks about how the deductible will have to be paid which would indicate it would be covered by insurance. Surely anyone with a $100,000 G would have insurance on it.

Location: Under the X in Texas | The article says there is a total of $10,000 damage between ALL vehicles. A few cars and one boat. Lets say there are two cars and one boat. If he has a $2500 deductible, it is applied three times to the boat and two cars. Total $7500 Rinaldi will pay out of the $10,000 loss. Are you guys reading the article or not? It all makes sense and all the facts are there except exactly how many vehicles were damaged. But it does say 18 tires were slashed - they may have been on 9 various vehicles more or less.

Location: NE Ohio | It is the age of the accused...I never thought to do anything like slashing tires at such a young age or any type of vandalism...wonder if there is an older one that put them up to it?

Extreme Veteran Posts: 470 Location: the Great Northeast | I believe its 12 cars and the deductible applies to each car individually. $1000 deductible each can easily add up to no coverage. Maybe the math is too tough for some. Sometimes the fabrication is in the mind of the beholder. Maybe if we all look by the grassy knoll we can see that second gunman too. I think I saw a jet trail in the moon landing video too. Eyes wide y'all.

Rinaldi said the vehicle sustained four slashed tires, a broken windshield and the roof and hood were dented after being walked on. Several other cars and a boat were also damaged." sounds like AT LEAST 10k just for the G. a dented roof somebody walked on is a nightmare to fix and requires a pro. might be cheaper to replace. just the windshield/labor is 2k+

Extreme Veteran Posts: 470 Location: the Great Northeast | A do it yourselfer can buy a windshield for $500 and installation is only another $300 to $400. I just did it a couple years ago for my 61. Let's not get too carried away.

Expert Posts: 3903 Location: Northen Virginia | sad, those kids were raided by parent of my generation which I believe they are the worst to date. The damaged cost to the cars is relative, of course that newspaper add is going to put highest possible price to everything. However a 500 dollars windshield + shipping + installation + that you lost the original one, which is priceless on itself. Dented roof, well that maynot been fixable 100% ever, except with a complete replacement of the sheet metal like Sid stated.
