http://history.alberta.ca/reynolds/specialevents/historyroad.aspx This is a great show, it's at the Renoylds-Alberta Museum and also Canada's Aviation hall of fame, so it's great because if you get bored of looking at the cars you can your the fantastic new air conditioned museum. There's a cafeteria there too. They are expecting 500 cars to be there, and they are organized in chronological order on the grounds. Marty (NorthernFins) and family and I will be there. Reynolds-Alberta Museum - History Road: The Ultimate Car Show City Cruise Map June 8 and 9, 2013 2013 Registration Form History Road: the Ultimate Car Show, 2012 REO Speedwagon History Road: the Ultimate Car Show 1934 Citroen Halftrack 1911 Ford Model T 1905 Cadillac 1916 Buick Hearse 1953 Volkswagen Transporter Truck Gleaming paint, the curve of chrome and head-turning good looks will be on display June 8 and 9 at History Road: the Ultimate Car Show weekend. History Road is a spectacular display of more than 500 cars, trucks and motorcycles spanning more than a century of automotive history. The lineup features rare vehicles from Reynolds-Alberta Museum’s collection and those of enthusiasts from across Alberta and western Canada. From open-bodied roadsters to 1960’s muscle cars; from tiller handle steering to electronic fuel injection and everything in between. The Alberta Motor Associations Green Team will be on site to give visitors money saving tips on driving today’s vehicles, including a Prius and Chevy Volt that AMA will have on display. In addition to the display, the 1905 Cadillac, a 1923 Stanley Steamer, the 1934 Citroen Half-Track and more, will be fired up and driven in the “Parade Through the Century” starting at noon each day. At the end of each day, all show participants can get into the action as they "cruise" through the City of Wetaskiwin. The Museum's feature exhibit, "The Fabulous Fifties" will speak to the car lover in all of us, as we "pop the clutch" and "cruise" through the decade. Topics include: Designer Influences: the People behind the Designs Car Tunes Drive-Ins Only in Canada Foreign Invasion Chrome Dreams: Colour and Style Aviation Influence The Reynolds-Alberta Museum would like to thank the following sponsors for their involvement with this special event: the City of Wetaskiwin and the Alberta Motor Association. The feature vehicle will be the 1955 Bel Air Nomad, the latest project completed by the museum’s Restoration Shop. Your "Fabulous Fifties" fun starts here: Play Your Hunch! Ladies and gentleman, kids of all ages, it’s time to "Play Your Hunch!" in this fast paced, energized game show. From music and pop culture to fads and fashion, it’s all about the Fabulous Fifties. Rise to the challenge and take home "Fabulous" prizes! Location – Theatre Blast From the Past The Fabulous Fifties was all about predicting the future. Our 1950s time traveller is joining us today to find out if the predictions were true. This fun, interactive skit will entertain with facts and fiction! Location: Starlight Drive-In Theatre Farm House – Fabulous Fifties Fun Mr. Potato Head, the Slinky Dog and Barbie were all born in the 50s. Don’t miss this chance to play with these, and other popular toys introduced in the Fabulous Fifties. Location: Main Gallery Hoola Hoops and Drag Racing Kids of all ages can test their skills with a hoola hoop. Drag racing more your speed? Build your own Fabulous Fifties car and race it on our indoor track! Location: Service Station Say "Pink!" You will look "pretty in pink" when you take your photo sitting in this 1958 Buick Special convertible. Location: Main Gallery Flying Fins Jets, rockets and wings; what do they all have in common? Cars of course! Don’t miss this lively presentation about the powerful influence of aviation on car design in the Fabulous Fifties. Location: Aviation Hangar How Do You Measure Up? Stewardesses of the 1950s complied with strict regulations for appearance and presentation. Do you meet the standards needed to "Fly the Friendly Skies?" Location: Aviation Hangar Build Your Own Flying Car Car designers used aviation as an inspiration for their Fabulous Fifties cars. Member Posts: 44 Location: Central Alberta | we registered for Saturday with our Saratoga (Northern Fins). Both days are the same. have the cars there until 4 p.m. , then a cruise through Wetaskiwin at 4.30. Let's hope for a sunny weekend :) | ||
