Hello,
I need #s stamped on an AUTO-LITE generator plate/tag for a 1960 Plymouth 36 AMP. IF I got the right plate, it has 3 spaces on green 12V tag.Top center space is for "PART NUMBER", lower left space is for "AUTO-LITE NO." and lower right is for "SERIAL NO.". Maybe there are lots of combinatios but please give me something that at least looks correct.
Thanks yet again for any help,
Karl.

Hey Mick,
Those #s will do just fine. I guess? The part # seems to be correct and i guess the serial # is as good as any. The "AUTO-LITE" is a mystery but those #s will be as good as any also.
Thanks yet again for yor help,
karl.

Haven't heard of much luck with Gary as far as I know, he's still not well?
I got this off eBay. Its nice and heavy and looks great. They come out of Poland and I got it in less than a week.

I have thought of getting one of these too, but how do you stamp it? Did you figure it out Karl? Also, what size rivets does it require?

Seems like a long time ago that I asked this question.

I've sence switched to a 2 wire GM alternator and have stopped messing with the 36AMP. Very easy switch and left the old wiring inplace and saved the original GEN. & REG. incase some one wants to put it back.

As far as the # stamps and all, I went to my local generator repair shop. They had the rivots and I borrowed the # stamps from a local machine shop. They are probably both available on Epay or Harbor Freight. Just need to find the correct size. The biggest problem was aligning the letters/#s on the plate. I bought 2 plates as I had a spare GEN. rebuilt but I messed up the first plate a little. The #s were poorly spaced and high and low. Practice first. Make some sort of alignment plate or something.

Karl.

P.S. to my earlier reply, pre-shape the plate after you've stamped is and before you mount it.

The reason I ask is because I am converting my Savoy to an alternator, but with this "stealth alternator" from Rotton Leonard.

http://www.rottenleonard.com/Stealth-Alternators.html

Very similar to the PowerGen that Powermaster sells, but at about half the price and a little lower output. This one will put out 75 amps, but is de-rated to 45 because of possible overheating with long term use beyond that level. At least it is 50% more than my original 30 amp unit. Anyway, I want to mount an original tag to it to make it look more like an original Chrysler. I thought of removing my old tag, but I would rather get a new one to put on there.
