Normally, I am not wild about silver cars, but this one is growing on me. It looks like the "shorty" wide moulding is for a four-door?

Whomever buys it, please put the shields and lances back facing the right way! Never seen the backward lances before! Neat car.

The backwards-installed Lance emblem is unfortunately not an uncommon occurrence, altho less common than
the backwards facing Shield emblems (as seen on X-Ruffalo's Regal Lancer).

Finding 2-door hardtop CRL's lower side moldings will be daunting, because the 'donor' car would have to be a real basket
case, to be able, economically, to part it out rather than to restore it.

LOL....the restorer of this car apparently had to settle for installing the moldings from a 4-door hardtop....but, how hard 'he'
looked for them, dunno.

if it is a Custom Royal it should have the bumper teeth as well, also has the normal V-type trunklid badge instead of a D500 one.

LOL----didn't even look at the Evilpay photos!

Yeah; it is a Coronet, with the "Custom Coronet" interior; but, the upholstery cloth does not look like the correct
"Star Dot" pattern altho the seat vinyl and door panels are correct.

The deck lid may have come off of a Royal or a Custom Royal, because the Coronets all have no "V" emblem on the
decklid; that emblem is not a "V/8" designator; the factory merely called it a "V" emblem!

The Coronets, only, had the black painted end-of-fin plates, just like this car still has on it, and only the Custom
Royals and the Custom Sierra wagons got the front bumper teeth, like Mark says.

Moonstone Gray, and Charcoal were OEM colors.

Those short mouldings on the fins look mighty silly.

I think some Buick portholes might be a nice addition too. Oh yeah, .. I remember the over-
blinged 58 offered not so long ago !

The seller could be held liable for false advertising the car if someone purchases it believing it to be a CRL ..... when it really turns out to be a Coronet, which I concur with Neil on based on the visual inaccuracies. However I could be totally wrong.

If the seller "knows" that the car is not a real CRL.

Once a Clone is re-sold, the subsequent owners can get selective memories.

This car is fairly obviously a 'custom'.

Now, if it were advertised/touted as being a CRL, at an auction, the auctioneer would
hide behind the auction-agreement and maintain that he was just passing on what he was told
about the car's provenance (that it is a 1-of-1 that was exported to Mexico, for the Shah
of Iran, on-the-sly, with a Special Order Fury engine in it).

Actually, this car has 100% correct (-looking) 1957 "Custom Coronet" door panels, and the seat-vinyl pattern
is correct, too, but, the area in the middle of the seats should have heat-embossed horizontal fluting.

This is not the photo that I was specifically looking for, but it will 'work' to show the Custom Coronet's notched seat-backs, upholstery (with the 'Star Dot' upholstery), and door panels.

Neil,

Looking at this car, I presume it is a collection of parts tossed together to make one "good" car.

In your observation/s, what is the base here, ... a Coronet with CRL trim bits ? A CRL with Coronet pieces ?

Other ?

It's a Coronet body, with the Custom Coronet optional-trim interior, but with miscellaneous Custom Royal bits, like the
name plates(!), the stainless steel roof rail moldings (exclusive to the CR's), and the lower fin CRL 4-door hardtop moldings.

The trunk is interesting, in that its 'Dodge' letters are chromed pot metal; the CRL's have gold anodized letters, so, either
a Royal or a Custom Royal's "V" trunk-emblem was added to the Coronet trunk (which did not have that emblem on it), or, a
complete Royal's trunk was also added to the car (which does have that "V" emblem on it).

The fact that the Lance & Shield emblems are both backwards indicates that the car received extensive 'restoration' work from
someone who was not intimately familiar with these cars.

I had word from another trustworthy source that the VIN# 37278667 listed with this car is actually a VIN # for Royal and Custom Royal...... whereas Coronet VIN #s start with 35, not 37. So I profess my complete ignorance on what this car may actually be and refute my previous statement!! Interesting conglomeration whatever it is. I contacted the seller and asked her about the interior and she assures that it is original and her Dad bought the car new..... but then memories can be selective when they're over 50 years old.

I feel my cop thinking kicking in here ....

Dad may have bought part of this car new, and after being parked out in the field for 40 years,
required 2 more parts cars to bring it "back to life" like we see it here. That explanation could
go 1000 different ways to the non-car person purist and they still think they are being 100% truthful
and accurate.

Well, it has a Custom Coronet interior in it, and black painted end-of-fin caps (Coronet, only), and Custom Royal 4-door HT
lower moldings--and, of course, the Royal/Coronet lower front bumpers.

The VIN plate could have been easily changed-over, too.

Wonder what the P/T plate has to 'say', about the car?

Options and provenance notwithstanding - the lead photo is stunning photography, one of the most spectacular backgrounds I've ever seen in a car pic!

It's a pretty good photoshop effort. They added the Dodge from this picture below to a beautiful stock photograpy background:

Something just doesn't jive with that background. Too broadly focused from near to far ?

However, those east Colorado "badlands" around Lake Catchawhopper do provide an easy
place to park the car and get a shot like that.

Soiouz, that's a great catch! I took a closer look and saw the shadows and sun glare are identical in both pics.

I've been trying to be an azz and photoshop this Dodge as a meteorite streaking across the Russia sky but I'm too inept at 'shop. Anyone skilled enough?
