Elite Veteran Posts: 827 Location: tailFinland | Thanks Jan, I also figured so. How would you solve the door/rear fender allignment? Plate the upper surface of the door fin with tin? Wont look good when the door is open... As you can see in a pic window edge matches but the fin is about 4 mm lower. Veteran Posts: 245 | standard on my 60 new yorker i drilled the spotwelds on the front of fin so i could have door and fin lined up as i can se on the piucture you can do some better lining on the door it looks tigth on top JAN

Elite Veteran Posts: 827 Location: tailFinland | Ok, let me ask this way. What would be best 1. I rise the dood and get the fin lined up (red arrow) and then get the upper edge (blue arrow) lined up with the rear fender. It sounds simpliest way but may couse a huge gap at the bottom or some other things. 2. Keep the upper edge lined up (blue arrow) and fabricate the fin to line up. This sounds more difficult and and time consuming but the door it self is more in its real position and may not couse issues later with A-pillar, door seals etc. 3. Forgetabout whole thing, old Mopars are built this way Hopefully Jan I am not asking your graftsmancsecrets (door.jpg) Attachments ---------------- door.jpg (149KB - 420 downloads)

Expert 5K+ Posts: 8443 Location: Perth Australia | Without preempting anything Jan will tell you, if your going for perfect gaps, you need to assemble the doors The weight of the doors internals will alter its adjustment and things bolted to the inner door frame can slight twist the door Its hard to recommend the correct way to fix this as there really needs to be more pictures and at different angles to see it it can be adjusted out The other thread you had, in the pictures, it looked like the door was adjusted to low and the bottom of the fender was also to low I am not a good one to pick on gaps as my dodges gaps are terrible

Veteran Posts: 245 | line up the door so it fits good in to rocker and quarter then drill the spotwelds in the edge of the fender were it is welded in the postloose the upprt 6-8 inches so the upper part of the fender is loose to the postthen you can take a flat iron and a hammer lay the iron on fender and hamer on iron so you want dent up the fender hamer it careful in possition you want and put a smal spotweld so you can loosen it if you need to cange a little bit more i think it is pictures in this thred when i done this operation on the 60 300 it is a pritty easy jobi thing by the piuctures you need to cyt and weld a little on the top of door or quarter to make the gap to line up Good luck JAN

Gap to rocker is ok +6mm. Everything else is ok exept the edge of the fin. If I rise the doors fins match but cap to rocker would be huge. I would also need to rise front fender it I touched to doors - but then surface of the cowl would be much too low. Now its so so (couble millimeters low). Rasing the door do not eliminate the fact that tip oft the fin is not in it right place (as you can see int pictures). Lower part of the left front fender is not a big deal I think I can solve that. Due the picture angle it shows that fender is too low - its not. It is just not deep enough. I need to get fender more deep in at the bottom but then again the edge of the door (front lower corner) will come smiling out. If then adjust the door to match to front fender - the rear top of the door will turn out and rear lower corner will turn in. here we go again I think left door is also littlebit twisted vertically (right door is not) No idea how to twist a door succesfully. I have adjusted dozens of doors and fenders so basically I know what I am doing, but this is the first time I have to use power tools hammers and welder

Veteran Posts: 245 | 6 mm under door is not mutch this cars have abouth 8-10 mm gap under it you lift the door 1,5-2 mm you can adjust the frontfender to that and drill the spotwelds on the fin in the post so you can change the possition on fender to post this is a easy operation i have done that on at least 50% of the cars i worked on because the fiting is bad on the most of the cars

Expert Posts: 1527 Location: ZH, Switzerland | Hi Magnus Thank you very much for this thread and all the pictures you posted. I appreciate the pictures of your journey to Big M as well to get an imagination how it looks at Big M. Particularly I'm looking at the very first few pages of the thread due to my personal interests (as you might noticed I'm an owner of a 1960 business man express as well....). It's planned - or better - in discussion, that my Letter would meet Jan in Malung as well for the body work. Who knows.... if I'll ever find a wonderful rear bumper for my Letter - that's the name I gave to my recent purchase....
Take care,
Dieter BTW for Jan: at the pictures of the parts bin of the seller I could see that all - really all - of the chrome trim is present - even though not all of the chrome trim is installed at the body right now.

As that looks like one of Mike Meiers yards in Minnesota . The white car to the right looks like the Bob Schmitt 100 day restoration of the manual 57 Desoto Coupe ?

Elite Veteran Posts: 673 Location: Malung, SWEDEN | Yes James! It's Ted. tedstunaboats.com. We ran into him on Indian Bend Road. He had lots of cars and parts for sale. You meet lots of interesting people all the time during the AZ auction week. The picture at the bottom shows our friend Mr. Phil Skinner, Kelley Blue Book. We usually meet in Sweden but this time at Fort McDowell, where Silver held its nice auction. Phil has full control of the price structure and market for collector cars! Exner; I'd like to have seen its P/T plate information.... Just checked, and it is THIS (non-D500) car, but now, it's got a white top on it (but, it's still got its correct OEM blue top-bows....) The top bows should match the color of the vinyl-top. Edited by d500neil 2015-04-08 5:14 AM (p 57 dodge june 6.JPG) Attachments ---------------- p 57 dodge june 6.JPG (109KB - 394 downloads)
