Neil!
I can assure you that the 57 Dodge comes to the best hands.
Now it's time for the Finnish!
Post some pictures from the candy shelf!

Gents, could you do a favor for me ?

I started to work on the DeSoto tonight and ran into a snag ....

I would like to see photos of the inside of the rear wheel tubs at the forward and rear ends to show
the contour left hanging below the floor and trunk weld points. Mine have been so badly repaired in
earlier "fixes" that they are no longer correct. I remember these having more shape and some material
hanging below the weld points. Thanks

Doc!
I have another solution for your situation. We buy your problems and
restoring the car here in Sweden instead. You will be happy, rich and free from trouble.
Sweden gets another 1958 DeSoto! Everybody wins!

May I introduce our "Julia" She's since some time ordinary "handyman" in the workshop.
We are very happy that she wants to learn. Julia is sixteen and she is already a proud
owner of her own 59 Dodge!

"Julias" car is a total restoration project, see pictures, and we will show some of the work ahead.
The picture shows "Julia" wetsanding a fender, otherwise she is most frequent in the sand blaster booth.

Fridberg bought another 59 Dodge from the Charles Kee auction in Oregon. A car that he tried to buy for a long time, guess if he's happy!
Picture shows the loading in Brothers. Third '59 shown owned by a friend and is in good working order.

We like the 59 Dodges here in Malung!

Years ago, when I first became aware of all the old North American cars being shipped to the Scandinavian countries, I was upset that we were losing so many. After getting to know and understand what's happening to these cars, I'm thrilled that these beauties are avoiding the crushers and are winding up in the hands of real enthusiasts. Thanks to all the talented and dedicated fans of American classics in Sweden, Norway and Finland for saving cars that would never have survived here. I only wish I could get to meet you all and attend your shows to see in person the amazing restorations you've done.

Thanks also to Forward Look fans from all the other European countries for helping keep our automotive good memories alive.

Okay, here we go. The 57 Dodge is now picked up by its new owner Olli Manninen, President of the Finnish Mopar car club.
He will complete the renovation without shortcuts and with the greatest possible accuracy.
You will find the Finnish club page here: http://www.moparkerho.net/3
"Julia" got a new very nice club t-shirt from Olli and was happy.
Speaking of "Julia", she has already restored the chassis and it's almost time for the body.
Much work is needed as can be seen.
The 59 Convertible made its season premiere by winning a carshow last weekend, not surprisingly, with that look ...
Work on the 300 G goes further and is now in the final stage.
300 F as this thread is about resting right now and Fridberg is now working with his new project, a New Yorker Conv!
Can only tell you that this man has energy ....

Update from the dream factory!
The 300 G is almost there, shakedown and some adjustment remains.
The "new" floor is to be fitted in the 57 New Yorker Conv and The Dodge
finally gets a little overhaul.Vi wish you all a pleasant midsummer weekend!

The work you guys is awesome, but I am curious about the 60 dodge wheel arch.

I dont know this, and thats why I am asking, but is the matadore/polara rear end of the wheel arch different to the dart (phoenix ect) wheel arch?

My phoenix wheel arch kind of has a pigtail twist at the back where the arch almost comes back in on itself.

Very hard to re create, compound curves everywhere

How can we purchase one of those Finnish Mopar Association T-Shirts ? It's a nice design.

Can't wait to see how Julia transforms the rusty Coronet into a  'Fridberg-quality' work of art.

The G has left the building!

Today, in the pouring rain, it was the delivery of the Chrysler 300 G.
It was a happy owner who drove out into the rain and loaded the beauty on the trailer.
The 300 will roll on the streets of Stockholm, the capital of Sweden,
but will be shown at the upcoming Power Big Meet in Västerås.
The work in the garage going ahead with the 300F and the Polara and the New Yorker and the .....
Yeah, you get it!

Thanks for all the positive comments about the 300!

Here you can see a little video from the cruising at Power Big Meet. I'm running behind Joakim, Windsor59 here on the forum,
guess if we had a nice time

Enjoy! http://youtu.be/Q0bYYf86ofk

The G is fabulous but I have to comment on the car carrier trailer. Is it commercially available or was it custom built? Just curious! I've never seen one like that. The geometry is fascinating, it looks quite light but super strong. Great design----nice and efficient!

Last night we had a visit from Gasoline Magazine in our club garage here in Malung.
Story will come later!
Fridberg came premiere driving in his 59 Dodge from the Charles Kee auction in Oregon.
The car ran like a dream with noiseless engine! What a bargain!

The club's website is www.bigwheels.se

Enjoy!

Chrys 68, I meant to ask you about the dodge pickup that was used to tow the Chrysler 300 away. It is labeled a diesel in a 1500 but that truck combination is not available here in the US, (until this year). Tell us about it.

The Ram is equipped with 3.0 EcoDiesel V6 !

Engine comes from the Chrysler / Fiat's own manufacturer, VM Motori, which makes diesel engines for almost all out of Chrysler's models in the EU
such as the Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Good towing vehicle!

We have had a wonderful summer over here with many car shows and hot weather.

During the Classic Car Week, we had the great pleasure to meet Batman.
He wanted to have our car in his garage in Gotham City when he've been looking for a real Batmobile for years.
Catwoman as seen behind the wheel, however, announced that the DeSoto is not available at this time.

Fridberg already working hard and fall is approaching.
Update about the 300F coming soon!

Jan there is a '61 Windsor sedan (silver with the cool red plaid interior) in a yard about 10 miles away from me, it has been there off the road for at least 40 years I think. When I looked at it a couple years ago it looked solid and fairly complete, but I did not look at the floors carefully... it is a NY car, and NY is not the driest place. I hope to get back there soon, as they are reported to be starting on scrapping that part of their (very large) yard, and I will check it out better.

Today's photos from the workshop.
The Polara is sandblasted and most of the welding is completed.
57 New Yorker is ready for the new floor. Previous repairs on the car is not pretty and needs to be replaced, see picture ..

Roger, you are welcome to check 61 Windsor but it is probably too rusty for use as body / sheetmetal donor. But who knows?

Today autumn arrived for real in Sweden. The temperature this evening is already slightly below zero...

Autumn pictures you see here were taken last weekend in connection with a very nice WPC meet held in Falköping.

Absolutey beautiful!

Do you have any more pictures of the '57 New Yorker convertible? I'm curious when and where it was found. Also, what colors, options...??

There is no doubt that the finest Forward Look restorations go through Scandanavia. Outstanding work.

The car has been in southern Sweden for several years, at some point
the car was fitted with pink paintwork. Perhaps the Swedes on this page
can tell us more about this 57.

Post some pictures tomorrow from our latest adventure!

Our last trip went to Finland and the excellent car show held in Lahti each fall. Of course it rained properly on our recently polished cars!
The Imperial made its first trip after restoration, the Polara is an old warrior who was renovated for about fifteen years ago,
and is used periodically as a daily driver.
Both vehicles worked great so apart from the weather it was a pleasure to drive five hours to Stockholm and drive on board the ferry to Finland.
On the boat we met several other car enthusiasts from both Norway and Sweden on the way to the show.
We also had the pleasant company of the white 300 shown here earlier in the thread.
This year's show was probably the best so far with a lot of really nice vehicles.
The Finns are really friendly and know how to make a good show. We gladly return!

I let the pictures speak for themselves, enjoy!
