Member Posts: 42 | I have a 58 Belvedere 4-DR sedan. The model code is: 253 AA3 143. The first three numbers tell me it's a V8 4DR sedan. The AA3 tells me Jet Black with sportone inserts. 143 I find is Red seat bolsters. Does anyone have a picture of these seats? I'm not sure if my existing seats are original and I'm looking to reupholster them. I've found the black & silver cloth, but what I don't have is a picture of the bench seat, cloth with vinyl. The seat bottom is solid cloth.. doesn't seem original. Anybody have a picture? Also, the source for the fabric is $99 bucks a yard - is this reasonable? Thanks!

Expert Posts: 1737 Location: Hay Lakes, Alberta, Canada | I have the '58 sample book, but it is Canadian... I think the cloth is the same...but the bottom of the seats should be a cloth/vinyl combination.

Expert Posts: 1737 Location: Hay Lakes, Alberta, Canada | The sample book shows the black/silver cloth, and it could be ordered with red or white vinyl. (CLOTH001.JPG) Attachments ---------------- CLOTH001.JPG (64KB - 118 downloads)

I am assuming (dangerous) that the 4Dr bench seat pattern with this is solid cloth on the bottom with red vinyl sides. The back of the seat has side red vinyl trim, a trapezoid piece in the center, and the rest is the cloth. The welting is gold. Sound original?

Well, I'm happy I can at least FIND it... thinking I'll buy double what I need incase of a future repair is needed...my local upholstery shop is good at matching the vinyl.

Expert Posts: 1737 Location: Hay Lakes, Alberta, Canada | I would be careful about the seat bottom- I believe that my '57 parts car has a combination of cloth and vinyl on the seat bottom, and on the top, and as well as on the back of the seat too. The gold welting sounds right. Try google-ing "1958 Plymouth interior" and then select the pictures only sort feature on the side. It should bring up lots of related (and unrelated) pictures.
