Expert Posts: 1302 Location: Skaneateles,NY(summer)/Port St.Lucie,FL(winter) | Anybody got any leads on where to have new tags made for my carburetors? One is so beat up it can barely be read, and the other is missing...

Location: Under the X in Texas | It would be fantastic if someone would make all the correctly numbered carb tags for all of the many carburetors we have amongst our cars. Ain't gonna happen any year soon. In the meantime, how many of you guys have eyes good enough to read the tags without getting them clean and then under a magnifying glass? Okay, so why not order up the $15 each tags made for early Vettes that a web search will resource for you. Here is one source: http://tinyurl.com/6jxvdb Now, honestly, even if YOU were a judge, would you know the proper tag number unless you were a model year specialist? Expert Posts: 3155 Location: NY & VT | Maybe the folks that make 'em for Vettes would do so for Mopars - all they have to do is change the numbers on it?

Location: Under the X in Texas | If we think about this, its a very simple project. One die to cut the triangle out of brass sheet and punch the hole and put the bead in the edge. I'm guessing the numbering would have to be done with one male and female die for the 4 numbers and "S". As you know, the S stands for "assembly of parts" meaning that the assigned number on the tag represents all of the individual parts within the carburetor. This could be a really nice garage or basement project for someone and would require very low investment I would think. On the internet, the impression I get is that Danchuck, the So. Calif specialist in '55-57 Cxxxy parts, is the maker of these. Selling for $15 each, they probably are making $13-14 on each one and selling 10,000 of them per year. For the ForwardLook market if someone made the dual quad tags for the 300s, Adventurers, Super D500s, Furys, and then went on to the single 4bbl cars, I just see a nice small business; one I don't have time for.

Expert Posts: 1302 Location: Skaneateles,NY(summer)/Port St.Lucie,FL(winter) | Since I Posted this (almost 4 YEARS ago) I found a guy in Minnesota that makes perfect reproductions of these tags. I had him make a set for the 2 fours on the 57 Adventurer engine in my 55. The photos Posted of the Chevy tags is missing all the info on the bottom of the tag...including the cut out symbal...

Location: Under the X in Texas | Yes, found your old post with a Google search looking for repro tags so I reopened it. What I did not find is the guy in Minnesota. Care to share your source with all of us? Thanks.

Location: Under the X in Texas | I don't know what you paid for those beautiful tags but I think I've found one source doing them. Chicago Corvette Supply @ 708-458-2500. Go through their computer phone options until you get the number for "carburetor parts". Ask for Al. His direct email is mztercarb@aol.com . I just ordered tags for my '57 300C carbs. They were $31.05 each and I was told I would have them in about 10 days. I specified the date code as I know what date my car was built. He took a credit card. He will make any tag you desire: just provide the info of carb number and build date. He also has hundreds of original tags and hundreds of carburetors.

Location: Under the X in Texas | Just received my carb tags from Chicago Corvette Supply. They are excellent and I am very pleased. My only negative would be on the phone he said he thought he could have them ready in 10 days and they arrived in 21. But he didn't promise 10 days so I am okay with this. Total parts $62.10. Shipping $10.61 UPS.

Location: Under the X in Texas | I didn't buy them to take pictures of them. Bought to put on my 300C carburetors! Oh alright, I'll take a pic. Yes, of course they have the little oddball shaped punch outs. Wouldn't be correct without them and I wouldn't have purchased if those were not part of Chi-town Corvette's abilities. In my pic the quality doesn't look as good as the above pic 345 DeSoto took but they are equal. Just a matter of lighting or he has a better camera or more photo talent or whatever! Expert 5K+ Posts: 9900 Location: Lower Mainland BC | I just received my D500 Carb tag (2443S) from Chicago Corvette. Well, actually drop-shipped from their supplier. The confusing part is the address of their supplier is 40 Rue du 19 Novembre, Waldighofen 68640 (France) which, when you google that address, is a a private residence. Maybe somebody's hobby in the shed/basement, banging out tags? My tag came as Aluminum, not brass. No punch-outs. I have never seen a D-500 carb tag so I don't know if that is correct or not.
