Extreme Veteran Posts: 375 Location: milano, italy | I have been dreaming to have a 60 300 F since I was 20 years old, now I am 53....but I also wanted a black car, needing restoration...so choice was not easy. In the past I had bought a 300 G conv, a 57 C and a J, so my love for letter cars was satisfied. On the 300 bulletin there had been a F for sale for two years at 15 grand....mechanics special the ad said....but 15 grand was crazy. So I waited and waited and waited....until a friend of mine got in touch with the owner and he was ready to sell for about one third of that amount. Money was wired and I was the proud owner of a poor rusty, incomplete and neglected 300 F. Through the 300 club was able to find most of the missing parts, like engine, rams, trans....and everything else. Today the car is finally at home, and as always it's worse than described, owner had forgotten about rusty frame rail and lower rear panel...but who cares, its an original black 300 F. Here some pics, more to follow as resto begins Edited by antonellomopar 2010-12-31 3:06 PM

Expert 5K+ Posts: 7206 Location: Victoria, BC, on Vancouver Island, Canada | Well you definitely have a project there, and it will be beautiful when finished. I'm also a 300-F lover, I don't own one, but I do have a 1960 Saratoga 2 door hardtop. I'm wondering about the trunk lid on this car - it doesn't have the Flite-Sweep wheel outline, which was standard on the 300-F. Perhaps it was changed at some time, or maybe the car was specially ordered without it. Edited by imopar380 2010-12-31 8:19 PM

It's not a "mechanics" special; it's a MAGICIAN'S special, and, you WILL work your 'magic' on it! The 'World' of MoPar is in good hands; we're just a few miles (kilos) apart....nowadays.

Veteran Posts: 279 Location: Norway | "But who cares, its an original black 300 F" Well, most people would.. All credit to you for seeing the potential in something like this, most others would see it as an old car rusted beyond repair.. And I'm sure it will turn out just beautiful, these are some of the coolest cars ever made. Hang in there!

Extreme Veteran Posts: 375 Location: milano, italy | The car was special ordered without the Flite Sweep trunk lid, as broadcast sheet denotes. Also has automatic beam changer and automatic rear view mirror. Posi rear was also ordered new. But no a/c, as car was delivered to north east. Yesterday gave a quick look at the car, and found that all the lower body is in very bad shape. But original paint is still presentable on roof, hood and trunk lid, and the window channels are perfect. Since the car had been taken off the road in 69, guess the car has rusted to death in just 9 years of use. Here is build sheet. Edited by antonellomopar 2011-01-01 3:27 AM

Extreme Veteran Posts: 375 Location: milano, italy | Engine is locked up 383 from 1960, while trans is from a 59 car. Floors were from a 60 Windsor and were just lying in the car. tfhey are a bit rusted but workable. Inside rockers were not bad, had to be welded together, and some pieces had to be formed from scratch. More pics in the next few days

Could you please also take some photos of the control box (should be mounted on the left cowl or eventually on the firewall up under the dashboard). It should look something like this in the photo below. Extreme Veteran Posts: 375 Location: milano, italy | I have forgotten to update this thread. I have had the car car Painted in black as original. In the meantime, the engone was rebuilt, mounted inside the car with the rebuilt trnas, new brake system, new exhaust. Newly chromed bumper are now mounted, Basically, only thing missing is tho have the interior redone steering wheel has been recast by Dennis Crooks, and he did a wonderful job. Dash has been bought in Sweden, as were bumpers. Just to move car, I mounted some old polished ET wheels, but now I fell in love with the way the car looks. Problem is the interior leather. Am trying to find a supplier, but no luck yet Edited by antonellomopar 2015-10-11 12:15 PM

Extreme Veteran Posts: 375 Location: milano, italy | Dieter, I got some samples from SMS, they are asking 15.95 $ for a square feet of the checkerboard material., The plain leather costs 13.95 $. . The complete seat covers would cost 2500$ but you have to send the old covers to them. Headliner is 255$. I have another option, that is having them done here in Italy. Raffaele Corneo had them redone for his E, and he found an old supplier who had the patterns in stock having done the seats for some Ghia custom job. But the pattern of the checkerboard is not as defined as the original stuff. I am very hesitant to place the order with SMS as the terrible customer service I had several years ago with the stuff I ordered from them for my 61 Imperial. But I am afraid they are the only option.
