Door Stop: The mechanical function of the door stop is the same for 1957 – 1959 Plymouth / Dodge, may-be as well for other mopars. They all don’t have an intermediate door catch. To find solutions for this option, the disposable space and the function should be analysed by 3D-Modelling.

The main part is the bracket unit (01). Built-in parts the bracket, a damping grommet, a retaining washer, and two stop springs fixed with a rivet (02). The bracket unit, inserted from rear, is lateral guided and free movable along the slot (03)(04). At fully open door, the damping grommet marks the end stop (05), can see the springs to trap the door (06). Not shown the hinge with the pin, entering partly in the door. Left and right door are identical, just mirrored.

These CAD-views of a white painted car visualize the function, and helps for design a much-needed option - an intermediate door catch (07).  - SERGE -

1959 D500 Emblem 1: This a rare and the most asked Emblem for 1959 Dodges.

There were originally two versions, a left side and a right side version (01). From research, the tool of the right hand version got damaged and not repaired. As a result, only the left side emblem came then mounted on both sides of the car.

The Original D500 emblem was, as shown, all in Chrome. Various golden versions can be encountered today (02) (03) (04).

1959 D500 Emblem 2: The D500 emblem consists of two parts: the letter block (05) and the main body (06). People not used to work in 3D may have some difficulties to see the rear side real.

Fortunately I found a NOS letter block 500 as reference for the model. The connection on the main body was then generated by substracting from the letter block for an exact fit (07).

The knights of the various emblems on 1959 Dodges differ in details. Here, the knight was extracted from the Trunk Emblem (08), then scaled, stretched and deformed up to achieve the correct proportions to fit on the main body, as it must be (09).

The gap between Body and Letter Block is set to 0.1mm (10).

1959 D500 Emblem 3: CAD make it possible to attach the knight on various ways:

a) As is original. The knight is molded together with the main body, shown in (01).  b) The modified knight inserted as a separate emblem to the cut-out main body (11) (12). c) The Knight with cut borders, to fit on the original main body (13).

Some exploded views (14) (15) (16) (17). The red paint is displayed as red foil. Can see: the left arm of the body was tracked in one single loft by multiple profiles and guide-lines, shown in green (18). The right arm thereupon mirrored.

At all, not such easy to realize. Many pictures for repro.

My personal preference in Golden as on my 1959 Dodge Custom Royal Lancer Convertible (19). Always nice to look at the CAD model, but too perfect in comparison to the emblem on the car! CAD model mounted on a picture (20), as it should be.

NO, should turn the knight the other way! - SERGE -

1959 Lancer Emblem 2: On an NOS Emblem, sold 2019 for USD1250, I found the correct Original colors (01), the first NonCAD picture in this thread. Thus, I have to repaint the two emblems on the car,. On CAD this correction is a small thing (02).

Then I obseved that the flower on the Knight is missing. From different suppliers at the time, the design is in detail somewhat different. Here and on all other emblems I modeled, I used the same Knight of the Trunk Emblem. For Lovers some more (03) (04) (05).

Always nice to look at!   - SERGE -
