on eBay

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=23053...

This is an original, complete and correct OEM 1958 Plymouth Gold "V" Grill Emblem, with it's original mounting hardware too. A must for any decent Christine car! I don't need to sell any of you on this part, you all know how bad the reproductions are. No damage, no missing pieces, no reproduction crap. Just one very nice original emblem. One stud is a little bent, but should bolt on just fine. Trying to bend it back may cause it to break due to it's age, so I would suggest leaving it be. I have not re-painted the black stripes, but that's quite easy to do. I'll let the buyer decide if they want to do that or not. If you watched the last Gold "V" sell on eBay a month or two ago, you already know that these bring big bucks in nice condition. That auction was for the "V" only, no back piece, no mounting piece, no hardware. This auction is for everything you see in the pictures. Please see pictures for actual condition.

This badge will also fit any and all 1957 57 1958 58 Plymouth models including the Fury, Belvedere, Savoy, Plaza, Suburban, Custom Suburban, 2D and 4D Hardtop, Convertible, Coupe, Sedan, Post, Wagon

Thanks!

the last "V" he is referring to was from a 1958 Fury and was silver which is why it sold for so much.

No sir, I must have missed that one.

The last "V" I saw sell on eBay was in fact a gold one. And it was just the "V", no "V" bracket, no striped backer, no mounting bracket, no hardware, nothing...

I must have deleted it from my watch list, but it sold for big bucks...

The silver ones are easily made by polishing the finish off of a gold "V" and spraying the silver stripes with gold spray paint. I know this because I made a "Fury" emblem just for fun from the smashed gold "V" emblem I bought from Baughman's yard in York, PA a few weeks ago.

Cool!,that came out rather nice! Was the car in the junkyard red and white and crushed into a cube?

I must have missed the auction for the "v" you're talking about!,sorry about that.
The last one I remember was a silver fury one,and he had the mounting bezel seperate.
How much did it bring?

Thanks!
I must have totally missed that one.
Was it the guy who was parting out the Fury trim from the car stuck in the bushes? I remember him selling the gold trim, but that was about 4 months ago.
The gold "V" only sold for around $200 I think.
How about the Silver "V", what did that bring?

The "V" on the red and white cube was a little too gone for even me...

I actually have a '58 gold "V" with backing plate at home (They're worth $200? Really?). Now if I only had a suitable car to mount it on...

LOL!

Yes,exactly! It was the fury in the bushes!
He listed the silver V and backing plate seperately and both pieces together brought slightly over $200.
I'm surprised just the gold V part would have brought $200,guess two people wanted it very badly.

Ah, the old eBay "bush" Fury... What a shame to part that one out, it looked to be quite complete.

Maybe the gold "V" brought $150, I just can't remember for sure, but it's like you said, two interested bidders and who's to say what it's worth?

Heck, "Ronbo" got $256 for a used 57/58 rubber brake bellows a few weeks ago, and didn't get a single bid on a 56 one a week later for $99. Go figure...

Yeah,I wish the seller of that Fury would have shown more photos of it,it did look like it was pretty complete, but I guess the front end could have been involved in an accident or maybe it was badly rusted and that's why the seller decided to part it out.
It sure would have been a shame if it could have be saved and was just parted out for no reason.
Did anyone here ever get any photos of the rest of the car?

I never saw any more auctions for the parts from that car other than the sport tone auction and the grille and "V" emblem.

Auctions are funny like that sometimes,it seems to be all a matter of timing.
I've seen that same situation play out many times where someone will list something the first time at it doesn't get the opening bid and then the next time a bidding frenzy occurs and it sells for good money.

You could tell from the photos of that Fury that it had some severe rust issues.
