I thought I would introduce my new passion. My part of the restoration started just over a year ago.
Finally the body is straight and rust free.
And now the colour starts to flow.
And finally I have started putting her back together.
There is still a long way to go.
And now with photos????

Welcome Laurie! The car looks good, nice work on the body, paint and the engine - what type of engine does it have? In my opinion the rear seats that you test mounted are much too high. Keep us posted about the progress.

I am running the original 361 engine and t/f gearbox. When I bought the car the engine and box had already had a full rebuild. So I figured - spend more on the body and power can come later.
Car is an Australian Build/assembled, so she is right hand drive and I am in Newcastle Australia.
Colour looks really good in the sunshine. But unfortunately when she is in the shed I sometimes think I have a yellow cab???
Wizard, I agree. The seats do look too high. I cut up a good rear swab to get it down to respectable height but then they looked out of place with the front seats.

More progress! The project starts to take on a different feel when the doors and guards go on. Although I would have liked them to go on easier and line up more quickly.
Driver's side came up pretty well but the passenger side will take more time. The old girl deserves to have those lines straight and gaps even.
Rubbing and buffing has also started, one panel at a time, so she will really start to shine now.

After much debate, a new set of Coys C5 wheels has been fitted. 18*8 on the front and 18*9.5 on the rear.
(please excuse the sign on the windscreen - I didn't write it)

I love it, I painted my Jeep CJ-5 a similar color and the tire and wheel combo looks sharp, great job!

Thanks Dave. "Taxi" has been the common name that comes to mind.
She is called "Crystal"
And a little graphic with knight's head and crystals to make it all clear as mud.

I've been slack. Progress is very slow.
I'm installing a Vintage Air unit in Crystal. Considering it's such a big car there isn't much room under the dash.
I found that space was too tight to fit the flexible ducting, so I have made up hard ducting using PVC, fibreglass and aluminium.
The two demist ducts are joined into one pipe and then routed along the bottom of the dash before splitting and exiting onto the windscreen. The a/c unit itself fits behind the glove box so I loose that space. I also loose the space for the glove box hinges.
The four main ducts are joined into one rectangular duct which routs the air across the car. This rectangular duct also acts as the front mounting for the a/c unit.
I’ve also had to modify the wiper control arm so that it travels between the two sets of outlets on the a/c unit and managed to obtain a huge 4mm of clearance.
I hooked up the power to the fan today and pretty pleased with the air flow out of the vents.

How did you lower the front end?

In the photos with the old wheels I didn't have the torsion bars fitted. So she is just sitting on the bump stops. Not very practical for driving.
With the new wheels I have adjusted the front to be about midway for suspension travel.
