Phil.
You type your message, like I am doing in this window.
Down the bottom and slightly to the left, you will see an option "Attach a file after posting", with a square checkbox next to it. Using your mouse, put a tick in the checkbox. Finish typing your message and then hit submit as normal, then it will take you to the page where it asks you where to find your image that you want to attach. Hit "Browse". locate the image in your computer (where it is stored), then hit "Submit". If your photo is small enough it will tell you "Upload successful". You then return to the thread to check it by clicking on "Return to thread" over the left side.
The biggest problem that people have is that their image is too large. If this is the case then you must open the image in your photo editing software, and then "resample" it, to adjust the size smaller so that the website will not reject it.
Very simple.
Glenn.

Thought some others might appreciate my experiences.

I've been having photo problems for ages.

I tried to post an image of George LeBay for ages with no luck. I couldn't see the box Glenn refers to.

Top right... control panel... I found a box "How should the reply box in thread view be displayed?" and selected "Full".

The box appeared but I still couldn't post a 4kB picture. I thought 4kB was a small file, but had to use my Cameras software to reduce the file to 2kB,

Cheers.

Lee.

Lee,
If you want to add a PIC to a Current Thread, Then you need to Click " Reply " on the Right hand side of any post, It will then open another window and you will then see the " Attach a File after Posting " ..

Pics can be a Max of 250 kb IF they are Jpeg..

Posting pictures here could be easier. Who designed this site and why is this clumsy system not improved? What would be ideal is a simple drag and drop. (And normal file sizes wouldn't be rejected like they are now.)

It is a LOT easier here at FWDLK than most other sites.
I'm a builder, not a computer nerd, and if I can do it anybody can.

We all eventually figure it out, what makes it difficult is the procedure is unique to this site (at least in my limited world). It's not intuitive.

To add: The size of a picture should be "standardized", so as all look same. The site could do this automatically, but we can as well define it. I choosed the smallest acceptable File Size to save memory of the site:  width 25 cm , hight according the ratio, resolution 72dpi (will have 60 - 130kB). In PhotoShop: open a page with this values, insert the picture (or PrintScreen), move and scale it to fit. Or directly resize the picture to the given values.  - SERGE -

I'm an administrator of one of the Christine forums...... as Glenn mentioned... the FL forum isn't any easier to use than some of the other car club sites.

Although I head up our forum... I still regularly have problems uploading photos on our site.

The guys that administer these car forums don't build them, we can change their layout and membership access but that's about all.

I log into Forward Look whenever I get the chance (I am lucky enough to be doing so recently) from what I've experienced, the guys that run this forum seem to do the job very well.

The site definitely needs updated software - but that could be an expensive proposition to do that - and this site is basically costs about $250.00 per month to operate as it is, ( see http://www.forwardlook.net/) which is supported by advertisers and donations.

If you scroll to the bottom of the page you are forced to "attach a file after posting". This will have to be sized correctly and the picture will come directly from your computer. BUT if you hit the reply button on a previous post, you can then go advanced and insert copied and pasted info for JPG and GIF by pressing the the button that looks like a picture.

It has taken me years to figure this out.

The $250 a month is not for the software, it's operating expenses like server space and service.

I would feel raped to the bone if I had these costs every month.

I have about 60 websites and some 80+ domainnames under my control on a shared hosting server (linux) in a datacenter which is costing me less than $200 per YEAR, and with way less downtime than this site has.

Anyway,
posting pics can be done either in this format (without the spaces): [ img = url ]
...or by using photobuckets HTML-code.

Once in a while, when I go to post a pic, my computer just is stalling, not fully uploading the pic, so I get out of the site, come back in, and without me hitting "submit", the post is displayed without the photo.I think that's the danger with submitting a pic after posting, but is there any way to insert the photo after it's posted without the pic?

The post will always be there If the PIC crashs, as the post is sent before the Upload Page appears..
If the site crashs when posting as you described, just go back to it and press the EDIT, you then get the option to Add / Remove Pics as well , the same option as you have when posting with a PIC.. But i think it has to be done within 12-24 hrs , as the Edit option is no longer available then..
