55 Desoto, odd to see one with little side trim.

Chrysler Kid: the 60 Ply vert may belong to Richbo, a member here.

The 55 Desoto just doesn't look right without the color sweep. I see a lot for sale, however. Both Firedomes and Fireflites.

Heard about this. Went and looked at it. Bought it today. Its an untouched all original 52000 mile car. Never painted. original spare in it. Interior is super nice. Runs and no noise when running. One of those right place right time things. May sell it. don't know just yet

It was the wide open interiors of these mid-60's cars and those back into the 50's that
really attracted me to old cars as a serious ownership thing. As interiors got fat and
bloated at the end of the decade, it was clear that those were going to end up being the
pinnacle of automotive excellence for the common man. I love my 66 Coronet interior.
Clean, comfortable, not overstuffed or bulky. The 58 DeSoto and Plymouth are pretty
good too.

Seen this old boat i've seen it once passing by but after a year i found it again and got a good look at it. Can;t say its all original as its a younger guy who drives it now he probably hot rodded the hell outta the engine but the interior (sorry no photos) looks 100% original

Here's a rare Canuck model - at the local cruise-in tonight. A 1955 Meteor Niagara Sedan. Mid Range model, below the Rideau.

Is meteor a complete separate division?

=============================================================

U.S. carmakers unabashedly foisted cheap U.S. model cars on Canada and other markets for reasons
that still defy logic. Oft-times done with a reshuffling of grilles and trim, and rebadging of names to pique
the interest of the selling market ... hence, Richelieus and Beaumonts, Regents and Fonseceaus. The
Meteor was just one more badge adjustment done for the Canucks.

Dodge didn't have a 'yellow' interior option in 1957.

It did, in 1959, however.

Dear Neil,

As a long time old car observer, I would hasten you to note a few items present on certain cars
that generally suggest that a car has been taken from its virginal path of rectitude.

First of all ... a. ANY late 50's convertible or hardtop

b. An inordinate amount of bling.

c. An inordinate amount of bling in relation to the model presented

e. Certain types of bling that over-blingers are drawn to like perverts to children

> 1. The D500 tag
> 2. Flipper wheelcovers or wire wheels
> 3. Red paint
> 4. Dual rear antennas
> 5. Fender skirts, spotlights, fuzzy dice, Coca-Cola accessories
> 6. Dolls, drive-in theme kitsche, ribbons, trophies, or an easel with airbrushed details about how awesome the car is.

All of these *might* suggest to the observer that this car MIGHT not be presented as built and
may have had certain liberties taken with its OEM status to suit the "needs" of a past or present
owner.

I hope this helps in future encounters of puzzling cars and mystifying attributes.

Your friend,

I. B. Cynical

Spotted these cars today at the local Vintage Car club of Canada Swap Meet.
The 1955 Monarch Richelieu sedan has to be very rare. The 56 version moved the dagmars closer to the center of the grille.
The owner of the DeSoto four door HT was going to restore but lost interest in it. I gave him my Email address so hopefully he will get back to me.
Photos were taken about 9 AM this morning, was cloudy but they burnt off by late AM into a clear hot day.
The bottom photo, a McLaughlin Buick was named for the then-president of General Motors Canada, Col. Sam McLaughlin - but - the McLaughlin Motor Company of Canada was a Canadian company that eventually merged with GM to form GM of Canada more info http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McLaughlin_automobile

Doctor Desoto you forgot the plate of fake food hanging off the window... Btw this vert had the D-500 emblems but lacked the D-500 under the hood. Owner was a super super nice guy though who let me open the hood and look under it and take some measurements for my car..
