I've a friend who has lot of problem with his '58 318 distributor (single). Seems that the plate or the axle is shot.
I've seen in this forum that a "LA" distributor will work on any 318 Polypheric, true ?

Location: So. Cal | Rather than pay $220+ to get a distributor, I would just purchase a re-manufactured one at your local autoparts store for around $40 + $11 core. I'd get one for a '72 Barracuda with a 340 motor. I don't know if they sell them as readily in France, but I think you can still order it online from Autozone or Oreilly. Then I use a GM HEI ignition module on it so that I don't have to mount that Chrysler box or the ballast resistor on my firewall. I have the bracket that will bolt the GM module listed at http://www.designed2drive.com and the module comes from any GM V8 (or V6 too I think) product from '75-'83 for around $20. Nevertheless, if you want to use the Chrysler box, it is available from the parts stores, and you will want to get the electrical connector to plug into it as well. Just trying to save you some money. |

Location: SWITZERLAND | Phil, this Electronic Kit especially for Mopar Engines I purchased recently in eBay for $169. Now I have mount it on my Dodge 59 / 361, without changes to any additional cables. Before I had to redesign the schematic correspondingly. Then I turned the Ignition ON and the engine ran instantly as nothing had changed. As soon my time allows I will report and describe it in a separate Thread "My Electronic Ignition Conversion", an easy to handle and nearly "unvisible" Installation . - SERGE -

361 is a big block engine !!! I've seen these kits at 169.95 (i.e. 390083190360) but they don't work on 318. |

Location: SWITZERLAND | The Basic Electronic is for all considered V8- Engines the same, as the Installation proceeding. Only the Vacuum Advance Distributor and Timing Specs differs. These Mopar Performance Electronic Ignition Kits are available in Summit, Jegs, StreetPerformance, others (about 220.00) or sometimes cheaper in eBays (today 150.00 "Buy it now"). 273/318/340/360 Type: P3690426 361/383/400 Type: P3690427 413/426/440 Type: P3690428
