Veteran Posts: 267 Location: Sydney | Update.... The insulator I fitted, although not much different to the one I took out has made a huge amount of difference. So it wasnt doom and gloom after all. My first proper drive with some extended motorway, about 200 km's and its a huge improvement. Im quite pleased that the effort was worth it.

Board Moderator & Exner Expert 10K+ Posts: 13049 Location: Southern Sweden - Sturkö island | Draw up the fluid with a syringe or oil changing pump. Start the Engine very shortly and drain as much as possible. Pour some new fliud in, start the Engine briefly and suck out as much fluid as possible. Fill up the pump with new fluid, start the Engine and "bleed" the servo starting up the Engine and turn the steering Wheel full right and full left slowely several times - done. The synthetic fluid can mix with a Little of the old fluid without problems

Expert 5K+ Posts: 7400 Location: northern germany | I'm using the stuff Wizard recommended without any problems for years and I believe it added a bit more "road feel", but I've been using synthetic ATF in it before and changed to a hard pressure line at the same time. A power steering cooler would be another plus.

Why can't they make seals that last 20+ years today?

Elite Veteran Posts: 769 | I'm currently pulling sub frames out of a 63 300 and 61 Windsor I have read through this thread a few times Forgive me for going through this step by step. 1 . Pull steering wheel 2 . Remove turn signal assembly 3. Behind signal assembly is a snap ring that needs to be removed 4. Remove colum to dash frame mount 5. Remove firewall rubber seal 6 remove clamp 7 Jacket or sleeve will then slide off shaft to expose roll pin at box. 8. Drive out roll pin. Remove shaft. Is this correct?
