Expert 5K+ Posts: 9900 Location: Lower Mainland BC | I was able to find DVDs for "It" (2009) and "This boy's life" at a local library. Put them on hold. Can't get them until the 27th. So I will be looking for my car in them next week. But I am not too hopeful. Didn't find anything in the Internet Movie Car Data base (IMCDb) for either: It: http://www.imcdb.org/movie_99864-It.html (at least I recognize street scenes from New Westminster BC where the car lived (and still does). Expert 5K+ Posts: 9900 Location: Lower Mainland BC | Apparently this came after the Long Long Trailer. Released in Feb. 56, there was evidence that the vehicle was a 56 Sierra but on second look, based on the front badge and "V", it must have been a 55 Sierra (two-tone dark blue on light blue). The You-tube link to the movie trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JN7YjIYw5DU Some info (note the last image - the back cover of the Vol 21 No. 2 of Dodge News that featured the story about Lucy and Desi and the Dodge (wagon) - nice product placement boys). You can see the Plymouth taillights and the non-wrap around Plymouth rear window. The Pontiac by the curb is a 1953 or 1954 Canadian Pontiac Fleetleader. Red car waiting for the train to go by is a Canadian 1946-48 Dodge D25. No FWL models in site. Scene was shot at Powell Street and Victoria Drive in East Vancouver. Cannot cross the railway tracks any more due to increased security access to the docks area after 9-11.

Expert Posts: 1488 Location: New Castle PA | "That Night" with Juliet Lewis has her driving a nice red 1958 DeSoto at several points in the movie, and don't forget the 1957 DeSoto in the used-car lot in an absolutely great movie, "The World's Fastest Indian", at about the 53 minute mark. For 1957 DeSoto fans, "Chiefs" is the best, as a main actor (Billy Dee Williams) drives a nice blue Firedome Sportsman 2-dr HT. I have met the folks who own that car, and there are pics of it on my web site at the 2003 National DeSoto Club convention.

Extreme Veteran Posts: 504 Location: southern Oklahoma | If you guys get a chance look up a 1980 movie called "Border Cop" starring Telly Savalas and Eddie Albert as border patrol agents on the California/Mexico border. Telly and his partner start out in a circa 1971 Chrysler that gets destroyed. As punishment, supervisor Eddie Albert assigns him a dusty 1959 Dodge four door hardtop (less than thirty minutes into the movie BTW) . The thing is - it's got 59 Plymouth style rear fins. I think it's a '59 Canadian Dodge! If you have Roku you can watch the movie on "My Retro Flix" in their ironically titled "new releases" section otherwise you can watch it for free on Youtube. On Youtube the '59 shows up @ 25:34. Edited by 1961savoy 2018-01-14 6:58 PM

Expert Posts: 1819 Location: Vancouver, BC | No, it's not a Canadian Dodge. The side trim shown was used on Plymouth Belvedere (MP1/2-M), Dodge Mayfair (ME1/2-M), Dodge Kingsway Deluxe (ME1/2-M) and DeSoto Diplomat Deluxe (MF1/2-M). The last two were export models built in either Canada or the U.S.. although the Canadian plant built only Belvedere, Kingsway Deluxe and Diplomat Deluxe 4 door sedans for export. The U.S. plant built all Plymouth models as export Plymouth, Kingsway and Diplomat models. The 1959 M class 4 door hardtop was built in the U.S., but not in Canada, with production totalling 5,713. Thus there never was a 1959 Dodge Mayfair 4 door hardtop or Canadian Belvedere 4 door hardtop. As the film was shot on the border with Mexico, the car was undoubtedly a Dodge Kingsway Deluxe from Mexico. CKD units were shipped from Detroit to Mexico where Fabricas Auto-Mex, a Mexico City distributor and assembler of Chrysler products, assembled the vehicles. Fabricas Auto-Mex was founded in 1938 and Chrysler International acquired a minority interest in the firm in 1959. Do not have 1959 Plymouth production broken down by U.S / Canada / Export, but export Kingsway production totalled 5,476 (1,551 6 cyl and 3,925 V8) and export Diplomat production totalled 2,364 (1,309 6 cyl and 1,055 V8).

Expert 5K+ Posts: 9900 Location: Lower Mainland BC | The Chrysler Kid - 2013-10-28 5:35 PM 56 Mayfair Convertible in Dr-Dolittle--Million-Dollar-Mutts 2009. Movie was filmed in the Vancouver area. The left hand shot was taken at Casa Mia on SW Marine Drive - very old house (1920's Spanish revival mansion). I presume the right hand shot is downtown Vancouver. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1080926/ http://www.imcdb.org/movie_1080926-Dr-Dolittle--Million-Dollar-Mutt... As it happens, I phoned a guy who knew a guy who knew a guy to talk 56 Dodges. I ended up talking (locally) to the owner of that 1956 Mayfair Convertible (Plodge - Belvedere convert with 277 Poly /Powerflite and Dodge front clip, etc). Except I didn't realize it at the time, he just said he had a 56 Dodge Mayfair Convert supposedly once one of 25 in Canada (back in 1956). He invited me to visit sometime. When I googled his name to confirm his address, I bumped into several mentions of him and his museum/shop. Here are a couple of photos from a newletter that featured his shop. Expert 5K+ Posts: 9665 Location: So. Cal | That's a lot of 2dr Chrysler products in a row, a Chrysler 300, a Packard?, a '57 Dodge 2dr hardtop, a '58 Plymouth 2dr hardtop, and a 2dr '56 Plymouth wagon in the next scene. And the other scene with the '57 DeSoto or Dodge wagon has another '56 Chrysler or DeSoto wagon behind it. The van there might be a Dodge too, but I'm not sure. Makes it seem that Chrysler helped pay for the filming and inserted some advertising. Edited by Powerflite 2018-02-03 4:05 PM

Jeez I was going to say 59 Imperial but then I saw your screen name there Steve, so I guess I will have to go with "What is a 1960 Imperial, Alex?"

Location: North Australia | I watched the movie. The 1960 Le Baron gets lots of air time, very cool to see. Movie is OK too! Steve.

Location: The Mile High City | Only the briefest of glimpses at 0:49 Still, it looked to my eye to have a flash of tourquoise on the black car with a black top. I only know of one like it today: Bill K's NY junkyard find purchased and restored by Max S - but that was a Firedome. Impossible to tell what model this is.
