Just for fun, I would like to compile a list of vehicles that used the forward-look emblem and where they used it. I only know of a couple of vehicles so hopefully many of you will fill in the gaping blank spots. Be as specific as you can.

'56 Plymouth Belvedere_______Quarter Panels
late '56-'57 Dodge truck_______Front fenders
late '56-'59 Dodge truck_______Horn button
'56 Desoto ??________________Glove Box
'60 Plymouth ??_____________Quarter Panels

I am quite sure the truck horn button with the ForwardLook emblem is correct only for 1957.

1958 plymouth silver specials had them on the side of each fin [on the rear quarter]

also some of the aussie chrysler royals had the emblem on their hubcaps... not sure exactly which year

55 or 56 dodge used it on the glove box and also i think on the body [front quarter or rear quarter, not certain]

cheers adriana :]

I thought the horn button for the trucks was '57-58, dont know fo sho tho!

'56 DeS glovebox emblem was the same as the upper rear seat recess on the '58 Fury.

'61 Dart fenders.

'56 Dodge speaker grille, but had "Dodge" incorporated with the emblem.

'57 Adventurer fin.

This isn't actually on the car, but the keys to my 62 Chrysler had the logo on them I am sure the same keys were used for many other if not all forward look cars.

The '60 Plymouth had them only on the Savoy model, if you don't count the 3 forward look "type" emblems on each side of the Belvederes.

I don't see it on the rear quarter of the '56 DeSoto, just a V8 symbol. I do see it on the front fenders of a '56 DeSoto Adventurer though. Does anyone know if the glove box emblem was only on the adventurer or on all '56 DeSotos?

The Dodge trucks used a different steering wheel for '58-'59 so I am going to assume that George is correct until I find out otherwise. Here is an updated list so far.

'56 Plymouth Belvedere______________________Quarter Panels
'56 Dodge All_______________________________Glove Box
'56 DeSoto Adventurer_______________________Front Fenders
'56 DeSoto Adventurer_______________________Glove Box
Late '56-'57 Dodge Truck_____________________Front Fenders
Late '56-'57 Dodge Truck_____________________Horn Button
'57 DeSoto Adventurer_______________________Fins
'57 Plymouth All____________________________Non-Power Horn Button
'58 Plymouth Silver Special___________________Fins
'58 Plymouth Fury___________________________Rear Seat Recess
'60 Plymouth Savoy__________________________Rear Quarters
'61 Dodge Dart All___________________________Front Fenders
Keys

It is kind of odd that so few cars actually used it.

58 truck horn buttons were red with silver and mad of plastic. THe 59's were beige and silver, made of plastic. The 57 had the emblem and was a metal covered one.

suburban61, do you happen to have a pic of a Fwdlk emblem on a '56 Dodge glovebox? I've owned 4 '55s & 2 '56s, and all I've seen on the glovebox is the chrome lock. Harold

Thanks for checking that out for me George! Thanks to all for the info. I had meant to put '56 Dodge Speaker Grill instead of glove box. If Adriana could kindly provide a picture, I will list it as an Australian or Overseas version. Here is the updated list so far.

'56 Plymouth Belvedere______________________Quarter Panels
'56 Dodge All_______________________________Speaker Grill
'56 DeSoto Adventurer_______________________Front Fenders, Glove Box
'56 DeSoto Pace Setter_______________________Quarter Panels
Late '56-'57 Dodge Truck_____________________Front Fenders, Horn Button
'57 DeSoto Adventurer_______________________Fins
'57 Plymouth All_____________________________Non-Power Horn Button
'57,'58 Plymouth Fury________________________Rear Seat Recess
'58 Plymouth Silver Special____________________Fins
'59 Dodge All_______________________________Turn Signal Indicators
'60 Plymouth Savoy__________________________Rear Quarters
'61 Dodge Dart All___________________________Front Fenders
Keys

I believe that a lot of these emblems are the same part. For instance, I think all the quarter panel, fins and front fender emblems are the same '56 to '60 with exception to the Dodge Truck version which is similar, except with a grainy texture. I believe the Fury seat emblems are the same as the DeSoto glove box emblems too. Can anyone verify this?

I've got the front seat out of my '60 Savoy up in the top of my garage. It's the 60/40 split bench. If memory serves me correct the logo is sewn into the drivers side seat upright.

I haven't found any Fwdlk sign on my 55 CRL, the keys have the old DPCD sign and I couldn't find any trace in the advertizing.
On the other hand the 56 Dodge advertisment have the Fwdlk sign together with "Value Leader of the Forward Look"

Well Joakim not really, but the Chrysler 1960 had the turn signal indicators shaped as triangles - see the picture below - look inside the Astradome just above "Rear Window" and "Antenna"

I think these are considered FL emblems. They are on the hood, trunk, and horn button of a 1962 Dodge Dart. But as we all know, 1962 is NOT FL.

It seems true that the forward look emblem of the '50s turned 90 degrees upward and became the Plymouth symbol of the '60's. Pointing upward no longer denotes forward looking and creates more of a rocket theme. So, as arbitrary as it may seem, I am only going to include symbols that point forward, not up. With that in mind, here is the updated list.

'56 Plymouth Belvedere______________________Quarter Panels
'56 Dodge All_______________________________Speaker Grill
'56 DeSoto Adventurer_______________________Front Fenders, Glove Box
'56 DeSoto Pace Setter______________________Quarter Panels
Late '56-'57 Dodge Truck_____________________Front Fenders, Horn Button

The turn signals on the 60-62 Chrysler Astradomes are definitely FL boomerangs.

And if we count something as silly as the keys (not really part of the car), shouldnt we count EVERY SINGLE operator's manual that has an FL logo printed on or in it? Or maybe even every part that has it stamped on it? LOL!

But those things have a flaw that is annoying. When you try to rotate it to get it off, the aluminum tabs do not hold tight enough to the plastic, causing the aluminum top to rotate without turning the plastic base. I epoxied the tabs into a groove I cut into the plastic this time in hopes that it will work better the next time I need to get it off.

60 plymouths also have 1 upright on all three models on the grille and it's embossed not embroidered into the passenger (side peice) vinal on the front seat. Also it's on the horn button and on the hubcaps on cars with hubcaps(not full wheelcovers)

The flookerang symbol is alive and well in 1961. I found it where I didn't expect it - etched onto the glass. Usually there is a PPG Herculite symbol there, even on my '60 Chrysler. But my '61 Lancer has a flookerang there instead. It's also on the alternator & jiffy jet bag of course. All of these flookerangs, when installed on the car, end up pointing backwards.

There were visor mirrors with the Forward Look emblem. I had one in my '59 DeSoto but let is go with the car when I sold it or I would have taken a picture of it.

Another odd thing was my '62 Plymouth had the Forward Look etched in the glass like the one shown on the glass above. And it was on ALL the glass including the windshield.

Forward Look floor mats.

My 57 Belvedere has FL Emblems on the aluminum sill plate covers. Might be a Canada thing, I've noticed my car and other Canadian 57s have some inconsistencies with the US ones. Namely, mine has a "Plymouth" script on the back, and the Plymouth logo in the middle of the "wings" on the trunk is silver instead of gold.

My 56 Dodge truck has the same emblems on the front fender as 57. I think the 55 as well. Sorry, no closeup pics. I am still in need of one if anyone has one they will part with.

I believe that some '56 trucks did receive it, probably late in the year. But there were many that didn't get it too. It was definitely not available on the '55's though. The Australian utes also had them on the fenders & hubcaps, though I don't know enough about them to talk about it.

Always found it interesting that the Plymouth line carried the Forward Look emblem on into the mid 60's after the FL was no longer referred too in literature or slogans. Mostly found on horn buttons in B and C-bodies.

Some of them are really cool looking designs. Here's a selection of some of the various Plymouth horn buttons from 1963-1967.

Just to clarify the 1961 Dart line.
The Phoenix was the only one with the front fender emblems.
Seneca and Pioneer had a small one on the glove box.
