Expert Posts: 3967 Location: DFW, TX | That is amazing. That is the ONE thing that everyone that has a '61 hunts for - nice, or just usable, headlight rings. Great find Adriana. Merry Christmas, and we all enjoy seeing updates on your Suburban...

Expert Posts: 3155 Location: NY & VT | Super nice job Adriana!! You're lucky that the floor mats were good, the ones in my Sweep are shot, nobody repops them, and it's harder to find good originals than to find headlght rings (tho' you did OK on those!). Keep on keepin' on!

Expert Posts: 1480 Location: Australia | yeah the back mat is pretty bad... and the front mat doesnt match... but ill have to get on and get my pink forwardlook mats from jim to cover up the mess... yeah, the seats are original... although accidently when i got it over here before we started the resto, it was just parked in our yard and i didnt think to throw a sheet over the seats until one day i realised that the sun had made the factory plastic go rather brown on the corners, so anyway now i have learnt my lesson and have them all covered up even though the cars in the shed... well clay, i have owned the car for two years, although it didnt arrive until august 2008... a couple more weeks and we should be ready for our regency inspection... how exciting! adriana

Extreme Veteran Posts: 461 Location: Brooklyn NY | NICE!!! I like that color interior with the red exterior, it's a great combo. Drive safe and enjoy your ride. I'm saving up for paint and body for my Sub, but life and the economy keep getting in the way. At least I'm there mechanically so I am driving and having fun.....Ralph from Brooklyn

Expert Posts: 3967 Location: DFW, TX | Wow, he looks like a million bucks!!! You and your father have done a great job on your car, thank you for sharing the resto with us here. Adriana, do you think you would be interested in being in a book about station wagon owners? I've been asked to be a part of it and also to solicit other folks' stories about their cars. I think the story of you and your father building Oscar would be a GREAT story to share. If you want I can forward the author's contact information to you- Danny

Expert Posts: 1480 Location: Australia | Well I guess its about time for an update... I have been enjoying being able to drive oscar around at last and also to have caught the end of the cruzin' season over here... We have had a few dramas with the brakes, but come winter I will get him serviced and also look at the brakes again, and fix a few things that have come to light... We've been to several events (All American Day, Mopar Mega Cruise, All Chrysler Day, Anzac Day Cruise, Kustom Kulture, Forwardlook Cruise, as well as the monthly Zipple Cruises...) People have been rather fascinated and also have had lots of questions... Mostly though people just want to know what the black pads on the tailgate are for, lol... Oscar has been a bit popular and was photographed for Chrysler Action magazine (which came out yesterday) also Restored Cars, and was filmed for a DVD today about the American car cruise scene here in Adelaide... Here's a photo of the feature in Chrysler Action... (I feel a rear view picture of Oscar would have been a better use of the space in the top right corner, lol) adriana (P1150192.jpg) (P1150202.jpg) Attachments ---------------- P1150192.jpg (221KB - 208 downloads) P1150202.jpg (197KB - 208 downloads)
