Looks like Old Cars Weekly is now as screwed up as trash publications like Cars & Parts. They say that the body tag is the VIN tag ?!? When I tried to email them, their website blew up. And what's up with this 'teasing' thing at the end. Quit jerking us around.

Yea Dwight kept referring to that body tag as the VIN tag when I was up there, although he readily admits that no one has seen the VIN tag from inside the rusted door....
As for the tease at the end, Dwight shared with me a package he was given when he picked the car up which included TV film footage of the burial and a script prepared by Chrysler Corporation touting the 57 Plymouth. The film was supposedly only shown once on a local TV station the night of 15 June 1957.....Hence that might explain the Old Cars Weekly tease..."The package contains a single item that has been passed from father to son and has only been seen publicly once beforeā€¦the very night the car was buried."

The "surprise" sure as Hell won't be the bag that the car was in.
That's for sure.

The frame rail... wow

Yeah ... I had the same reaction.
The whole frame is shot, that's for sure.
It only reinforce my opinion on that car : let her die peacefully.

The frame rail is rusted so badly that it probably would break apart with little effort. If they intend to at least get it ready to roll on its own four wheels they would probably have to replace the frame, but how would they do that? If the frame is that bad the body must be worse as the gauge of the body metal wasn't as thick as the metal used for the frame. Probably would be kinder to just make razor blades out of it now that they've monkeyed around with it for a whole year.

OCW may have called the body plate the VIN plate - but at least it gives a clue where the car was built....the Evansville, Indiana plant.
