Expert Posts: 3976 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: DFW, TX | Took the car to Lone Star Round Up again last month. There was a nice '57 Plymouth 4dr HT there and a (almost FL!) wildly chopped '53 Plymouth. Come on out to this huge show next year, we need more representation! Expert Posts: 3976 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: DFW, TX | So a funny thing happened at this year's LSRU. Nobody was within 30 feet of the car, the temperature was 75-80* all morning, and this rear window had never been removed from the car. Just a freak deal. I thought I had a deal for a replacement, but it seems to have fallen through. If anyone knows where I can get a tinted "high" rear window for '57-59 Chrysler or Desoto, preferably within driving distance of north Texas, you'd be my hero. Have you checked the pavement for impact signs? It surely didn't break just by its own. (Screenshot (825).png) Attachments ---------------- Screenshot (825).png (362KB - 244 downloads)

Expert Posts: 3976 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: DFW, TX | It 100% absolutely, with certainty, no question, no doubt about it, indubitably, exploded all on its own. I’ve spoken to eight people that were in the vicinity when it happened. All of the reported no one was nearby when it happened. More than that, it was at high noon in the geographic center of Texas’ largest car show. No one pulled out a gun and started shooting. It just didn’t happen. Anecdotally, four other people reported that these big back windows have shattered in cars, and when removed and stored away. There is tension in that design.

Expert 5K+ Posts: 7619 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: northern germany | Fun fact, you don't have to be "nearby" to hit something using a rifle. Long distance shot 45° could be from many, many miles away. I don't buy that sudden explosion after almost 70 years in normal weather, without strain on the body.

Expert Posts: 3976 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: DFW, TX | A ballistic trajectory from ‘miles away’ wouldn’t hit one window in two places, low, not hit anything else, and send the glass outward on both sides. I don’t know what else to tell you.

Expert Posts: 3976 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: DFW, TX | Yes. What you can’t see is that there is a 40’ tall building about 100 yards to the left of that photo, and that building sits atop a large hill with a parking lot on the other side. It’s a lot of words to say that the only place where such a trajectory is even possible is within 100 yards of the car, and my friend’s Ranchero that is parked next to it would have a bullet hole too. It simply did not happen. Can we drop it?

Expert Posts: 3976 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: DFW, TX | Glad to report the car is repaired with an OEM rear window and back on the road. It made the 1200 mile round trip to Bartlesville OK and back without any issue, so I'm calling it resolved. Still no evidence of a shooting. I will need one at some point too as I doubt I can remove the horrid water stains on the one I have. Your car look great as always!

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: The Centennial State | I've seen this before! No doubt it was the west Texas buckin' steel tipped snake sunning himself on the package tray. Something must have startled it and kapow-pow! Now you gotta find a east Texas razor-tooth Mongoose to get rid of that thing! I had never noticed those ghost stripes on the roof until now!
