This may be OLD News.. But just got my Monthly Classic American Mag through and there is a 2 page spread about a Wrecking Yard and it shows a 1957 Custom Royal Lancer 2 dr And a 1959 Dodge Custom Royal 4 dr.. States there are over 400 cars, But there are FL cars there..

The yard is called Ernests Auto Wrecking OF Capulin, Colorado

Everyone may Know of the Yard, but might Not know of the FL,s..

It has a 719 area code - I may have to wonder down there. I have no idea where Capulin is though....

Hi, Clive:

Any more information on that yard? It does not sound familiar to me at all.

Well it looks like you have Found it Between You and Ray .. it must be close to Denver as there is a piece about a Olds Vista Cruiser in the Yard, which Ernests Son has Singled out for a Demo Meeting in Denver shortly. But the Article says it may have been raced by the time this article gets published..

The write up on the 59 Dodge is..... Only 8925 Dodge Custom Royals 4dr Sedan found buyers in 59. Although the Pink / White Original paint is still in remarkable condition, and looks like it only needs a good polish, The car is let down by the Interior, All the widows have been smashed, So the seats and door trim and dashboard have Rotted..

The write up on the 57 dodge is.... This sits low on the Ground as it has had it,s wheels removed, It,s a Custom Royal Lancer 2 dr Hardtop , .............. No mention of Condition

There is also a 57 Mercury Monterey. In excellent conditon, Clean interior and deserves Saving.. ( BigM may like It )

Please note ALL cars are Sun Burn,t... Makes me wonder what ELSE is there and if there are any Barn,s ....

If any one goes to have a Look.. Please take some PIC,s.. The article says Ernest and his Son let him walk around the Yard for Hours.. So they seem good people,, All the details above have been copied from the Mag, So don,t Shoot me if you are disappointed.. LOL

Sounds Interesting. I saw some cars in a filling station lot on the edge of Walsenburg. On old 4 door doge looked interesting and there were two or three Studebakers and a Lark.

Well Guys, I got the Next Magazine for this Month through the Door, And there is another read up on Ernies Yard with some more PIC,s.. ( Sham i ain,t got a Scanner ).. There is a PIC of a 59 Plymouth 2dr Coupe Belvedere & another 57 Dodge 4dr that was driven in the Yard a few years Back, and stills runs today Also from the Pic of the 57 dodge, I can notice the rear End of a 57 / 58 Plymouth.. I think there is a 56 Chrysler sitting beside a 57 Green Buick Roadmaster as well..........

The 59 Plymouth is still wearing it,s " WJ-4457 " Licence Plates,, Although the Hood looks to be laid on at a Angle........

Don,t forgot to Charge the Batteries on those Camera,s before you Go Looking .....

I'm drooling over that description. We talked about it before the tri-state swap meet. I think Ray and I and maybe Stanford will make the trip. That part of the state is covered in snow right now, but "...if winter comes - can spring be far behind?"

The snow is almost off the ground now I know Ray and I talked about going out there, but so far, I haven't found the time yet. Maybe it is the high gas prices that keep us away... I know if I ever get around that part of the state, that yard is on my "to do" list!

Clive, I just talked to Ernesto, he told me that his yard is featured in American Classics (a Euro mag only?) every month. I'm panning to go down within the next 2 weeks, 2.5 hours each way.

If you use google maps, and search using 37°16'59.82"N 106° 8'39.59"W it will put you almost at their door. Then take a look using Street View.

thanks Stanford for the Heads Up..
I just went on http://maps.google.com and put in 37°16'59.82"N 106° 8'39.59"W on the search bar, And Earnies Yard came straight up.. You can span in on the yard , BUT can,t get close up to the Cars enough.... you can spin the Map to both sides of the road as you say, and actually go further down the road to the neighbours..

Great to see non the less... THANKS

Sorry Guys, my wife and I drove down to see Ernesto last August. He gave me tour of both properties, no parts for sale, only complete vehicles. He knows his cars and his prices are high. He's had some good offers on some old Mopars and he didn't take the money. Perhaps if his sons take over in the future, things might change. Perhaps his prices may have changed already considering today's market. Most Mopars that he has need major work including sheet metal replacement.
