Site preperation started yesterday on the new shop. With this new shop things will move a little faster but not a lot because I can't figure out how to make clone myself (sorry girls )

I will end up with a 28x48 block main shop which will house a lift plus 2 full service bays, office, washroom and storage for large tools like engine hoists.
I plan on modeling it after a 40's/50's era service station in the front.
I will still have my 24x24 which will once again be Christines home as well as parts storage for cars being built.
The new dry storage area which is 20x40 is still going to be in use.

As it stands now,

The Savoy is in the finishing stages of it's basic repaint.
Lee's Christine is going to start with some simple stuff as soon as the Savoy is out.
Nathan's Dodge will be worked in on those different days in order to get it in paint.
I have one customer who is still looking at a couple of different cars but I have him down for this summer as well as Harris's Christine, Lee's 49 truck and 58 4 door.
Somewhere in there will begin a 46 ford streetrod and then a 60 dodge is down for delivery to me the December both for US customers

Again, If you need me to do a car let me know and I will work it in somewhere.
With the new shop I should be able to have 3 going at once if need be.

She's not coming out to bad for just a basic repaint and some mechanical service.
I just finished up a few things and wanted to rinse the dust off her.

I just wanted to show my work in this thread.

Here is a few more. Still have to replace the windshield, exhaust from the surviving stock mufflers back, and a few other little bits here and there. I will also detail it some right before she heads home.
This car has given me a new outlook on all FL cars beyond my own Christine which is what got me into 'em in the first place.

As most of you know there was a fire in the old shop which will delay things a couple of months but have faith. The trusses just went on the new shop and things will be back up ad running in no time.

After the fire my build calender changed a little.
My shop should be back up and running within the next month. I have one Christine Clone, Total frame off build
59 Dodge, complete Frame on build
'58 4 door Belvedere, Driver build (if it doesn't get sold)
'49 Ford truck, Full frame off with a custom made wormy chestnut bed. These are in line.

I have people who have stated intentions to have me do work for them.

Christine Clone,
'60 Dodge,
'66 Ford truck,
'68 Chevelle.
I will say this, until I see a car at the shop or a cash deposit there place in line is yet to be decided. I feel that is only fair.

Some sheet metal work I did on a drag car. It's the floor/trans tunnel. It's not perfect. He was rushing me and I got some of the rivets out of line. I did it all in only about 8 hours.
I also re-worked the roll cage and fashond in a funny car style cage around the driver.

I'm glad that the '57 plymouth was an American car....if it appeared here nowadays, it would be burnt as immoral and you, Donnie, would be charged for offending religious feelings, and guiding people to the wrong way...Nadine looks like straight from the sales booklet.

Thanks for the detailed pics, I noticed for first time that there's a long crease running from fin to the rear doors. And I haven't yet had a photo of the Savoy emblem. You should now start renting this Savoy for photoshoots for books on Chrysler Corporation and Plymouth or about 1950's car styling

In light of the generosity shown to me by the members of this site for the next year I am offering flat rate prices (plus cost of parts or any subcontracted work such a re-chroming, prices listed below include all labor, paint and body material except sheet metal)

1. Basic overall paint job where the body/glass stays together was around $4000. Now a flat $3000
2. Frame on, body/glass apart was around $8000. Now a flat $6000
3. Frame off cosmetic with little mechanical restoration was around $15,000. Now a flat $12,000
4. Frame off total restoration (stock) was around $20,000. Now a flat $15,000
5. Custom work depend on what you want done.

Get in line now by setting up a delivery date to my shop. They will get worked on in order of delivery to me.

Here is what I know to be for sure comeing or is already here

58 Plymouth, Christine Build

59 Dodge, paint and mild mecanical

49 Ford truck, Frame off Resto

60 Chrysler New Yorker, Paint and mild mechanical

65 Ford Truck, Paint

Well my job with EMS is changing whitch will change my life at home some.
It seems that the powers at be have decided that all of us will begin station rotation as of tomorrow.
What this means is that this slow station that I have worked so hard to make it into I will only be in for one month at a time. Some of the stations have internet while some do not.
When I am at the more busy stations I will be up and awake for most of the 24 hour shift which means I may be a bit slower on keeping up here as well as with my business.

My plans are to try and work harder longer on "Plymouth Rock" so I can move more toward quiting the emergency service all together.
I just found this out and it is heart breaking for me. I have put alot of time into this place but I just can't deal with a busy station anymore. There are lot's of reason's why but my arthritic knee and the fact that I have just "Lost the fire" for the job are the main one's.

I just wanted to let everyone know.

Well the latest update is that I am now doing this full time, I have hired a webmaster for the main site, and I have plenty of work to do.

I have my wife on a 51 Cheby Right now that we are doing paint and custom bodywork only on, Nathan Mannings 60 Chrysler is in the finishing stages, Lee Day a customer from England is watching his car about to start going back together (over the hump thank God), Steve from Australia has his car in the early stages of disasembly, Steve (whitedawg) has his 60 Dodge here for paint and a custom gauge cluster and it will be starting as soon as the 51 is out of the shop, and Harris (h-bomb) has just bought a 58 Plymouth 2DHT that he wants made into a Christine as a present to himself for his 40'th B-day.

I also still have another 58 Plymouth, 59 Dodge, 66 Mustang, and some oher stuff that I can't think of right now on the back burner.

All is well in the land of the Rock. The only bad note is that any deal made after January 1 2009 will have a slight price increse due to rising cost of materials.

Some of the things I have going on for myself and partner is I have sort of half azz repainted my car after the fire and he just bought a 70 Plymouth Satellite 440 street/strip car which will be an ongoing project.

In responce to recent questions about when I can take in more cars:

Send 'em on. I am working 6-7 days a week right now but if your car is here and I see a spot of time where I could do something to it while another is in a holding patern waiting on a part or something then I jump on it.

In the shop right now is a 51 chebby that will be out in 3-4 days. A 60 Dodge that is about to move into the sheet metal work stage but from there won't take long at all. A 60 Chrysler that should go to paint in less than a couple of weeks. A Christine build that is about to go back on the frame.

Sitting outside the shop right now,

3 Christine Builds

49 Ford F-1 stock resto

59 Dodge paint and such

70 Plymouth

66 Mustang

and 1 58 Plymouth that needs some nit picky stuff so she can just move around on her own.

Some projects of my own that I am going to build to sell are, ( I will also build these under contract to your specs)

46 Dodge truck (Ol' Skool Rod)

66 Belvedere (my goal here is for it to be sold at Barret-Jackson as a resto mod)

65 Barracuda (AWB Dragster)

Anybody need a Job?

The latest one out the door.

Just between us Mopar guy's I don't mind if this is the last Chevy at Plymouth Rock. I was contracted to do paint and custom body work only. I wanted to do more custom stuff to it but the owner wouldn't let me. Things like Chop the top, shave the gas door, weld and fill the fenderskirts, and put in a DeSoto grill.
I don't mean to sound negative I'm just not a chevy guy and it's hard for me to not want to change it to the point that it isn't a chevy anymore.
I also didn't pick the colors.
My wife ended up doing 90% of the bodywork all I did was the custom sheetmetal and spray the 06 Ford Mustang Screeming Yellow and GM fleet white in base clear.

Nice job, D...

I guess this means we're getting closer and closer to gettin' the '60 back on the road.
(I'm getting anxious to slip back behind the wheel... I can't wait until she's finished!)

Keep up the good work... but slow down enough to take time for yourself once in a while!

Nathan we have been on your now for a couple of days. She is in there with Dave's car and Lee's which is about to go back on the frame.

I should mention that the reason the hood isn't lined up is because the hood is going on with some sort of modern gas charged hinge that his son bought.

Donnie...

How 'bout a status report on the Plymouth Rock lineup?
I know my '60 Chrysler is currently underway... along with Dave Wolf's '60 Dodge and Lee's Christine.

Aside from my '59 Dodge, what else have you got waiting in the wings?
(Keep in mind, my buddy Ben is still planning to have you do the remaining body & paint work on his '66 F-100.)

My recent schedule

I may be a little hard to contact for the next few days. I have come into an opportunity where I can get enough shelf’s and counter tops to go around most of the shops back and side walls.
A local parts store went out of business a couple of years ago and left most all of the peg board tool racks and all of there counters. Over 100 feet worth as well as some stainless steel tables and a deep 3 section stainless steel sink from when the building housed a small grocery store.
I get all of this stuff for free if I can get it out by the end of the week. I plan on doing that but it’s gonna take every spare minute with getting the stuff out and getting it back to the shop moving everything I have in the shop to get it all in place.
This will solve my storage problems in many ways so I can’t miss out.
If you need to contact me just drop me a pm as I may not have time to check all the posts.
If I am already seeing to something for you I will get it taken care of ASAP.

Thank you for your patience.

As for cars (I am just pulling this out of my tired brain and there is no order to the list I'm about to give)

4 Christine Clones to build or being built
‘60 Chrysler New Yorker (Paint, Waxoyl and mech)
‘60 Dodge Pioneer (paint, custom interior fitting and Waxoyl)
‘59 Dodge (all it needs is everything)
‘69 Ford LTD Convertible (paint)
‘62 Chrysler Convertible (big block car) (total restoration)
‘65 Falcon (paint, and general restoration)
‘57 Chrysler (paint touch up)
‘55 Plymouth (Ol Skool Rod if he buy's it)
'47 Chevy pickup. (finish the electrical, exhaust, gauges, and touch up some paint)
‘70 Plymouth Satellite (Dyno’d at 617 HP soon to have a Kiesler 5 speed and a Top Secret-make a splash paint scheme, total custom build) This one will make Plymouth rock famous......Don't worry I won't forget the little people and my autograph will always be free

Projects of my own,
‘46 Dodge A Gas dragster pickup (Nickname, Nobody's Fault but Mine)
‘65 Barracuda Altered wheelbase dragster (yea one of the dangerous looking ones with a Ed Roth flake paint job yet to be named)
‘66 Plymouth “resto mod” that will be going to Barret Jackson (total custom build on a tube chassis as a road car)

Projects of my wife’s,
‘62 Pontiac Hearse ( I have to finish this)
‘72 Ford Station Wagon (two shades of blue pearl over white on an all shaved body)

I am always open to take on more so just contact me with your needs. I hired a new guy that is fresh out of school so he will be learning alot of thigs he wasn't taught there.
For now till he proves something to me he is just a helper.

Idle hands are the devils tool
Saw some pictures of that car we talked about, way more body work than I want to get involved in. Keeping my eyes open for other opportunities
Thanx

Well it looks like to the chevy's are trying to work there way into a Mopar shop. I don't blame 'em. This one for the most part is getting finished by me.
It was a build that started 7 or 8 years ago and is a super nice truck. There is some places that have been damaged that I will be reapinting and it's up to The Rock the make it all come together with a new electrical harness, gauges, interior, battery location, sterio, exhaust, hooking up and tuning the 3 duce set up, and the final fit and finish to turn it into a turnkey truck.

Glad to see continued success for "Plymouth Rock".

Isn't this the one that came as a referral from another overseas customer?
A good looking machine... Definitely looks like another fun project from "The Rock."

For everyone needing to contact me I had a power surge that fried a bunch of stuff in my computer. After a new harddrive I found that it must have done more because right now i'm using the on screen keyboard one click at a time and it'd driving me mad.
My new computer will be here today and I will get caught up with everyone just as soon as it's set up.

The Rock is going to be in a rather large local clubs calander. I have been so busy lately that I haven't had time to sort through all of the pics I have of the calander and some of the work I have been doing but I hope to have time to get it all sorted out in the coming week.

Anyway here are some of the extra pics taken on the day of the shoot for the calander that didn't make the cut or we were just fooling about with taking pics.

Those are all pretty nice - I think the one taken from on top of the hill where you can see the man door (left side of pic) would fit perfectly in ANY calendar -

The better half had those flowers left over from her green house so since she works in the shop she to "woman" it up a little. I can't complane I like 'em too. The only thing about is with my Devil's head bull skull it's kind of like it's saying "Welcome to He11!!!!!! Would you like a flower?"

Thanks, I really like to hear from others who work on the cars. I got that sign from a vendor at a Mopar show. I was told but have no information to back this up that this was the 1957 "Mopar Girl". I will say that she's a numbered lic. Mopar reproduction product. number 1375 of 2500.
I paid a $100 for her. Don't know if she was really worth it or not but I liked her and it was my birthday present to me.

I know everything I do seems slow but with the help of my wife I have it worked out to optimize time.

As you all may know I have a 3 bay shop that now has a wall in one for paint/body.
The other 2 are for the rotisserie and the lift.

Over the past year I have been able to teach her enough to let her do somethings on her own but most of it requires that I do it myself so here is what you can expect to see in the coming months.

I am focused on getting Lee's (Doobster) car finished without any loss of detail.
Next is getting Steve's (ozzysteve) car back on the frame and into paint.
Those two are happening at the same time.
Once that is done and space is freed up then "ROB" (DVJohnny's) car will start getting taken apart.
Geoff (billywhizz) his car will also come apart for the rotisserie at pretty much the same time because it will not need to be on it for long at all since al his metal work is finished.

That's phase one.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Phase 2
What I call the "in and out" easy cars (easy by comparison to hand building a car )
I have Lee's '49 Ford that is a frame off but being a truck makes it more easy because it doen't eat space in the shop so much. That will start in the spring. So I'm not really thinking of it as part of a "phase"

Phase 2 has Nathan's '59 Dodge that is a trick paint job and maybe some light custom work.

Next is a '57 Desoto Firedome that is simply body and paint nothing else.

After that is a '66 Ford truck that is also Body and paint.

A '40 Buick that is a simple re-paint (car is already a show winner)

Brian's '46 Chevy truck that will get a great deal more done to it.

There are other projects that will fall in the mix somewhere like Eric's '58 and so on it just isn't decided yet to what extent I'll be doing them.
Also car's like Mike's '57 Chrysler that needs some touch up paint done.

My point of posting all of this is because I don't want any of my customers thinking that another car has "jumped the line" if they see pics of it getting done it's just that to optimize productivity (and keep the bill's paid) I have to move around on the projects as time and space allows.
Ofcourse other cars will come in while all of this is going on some will be the quicker paint jobs and other will be frame off's but for now it's just me and the wife. If I start hiring more people the the overhead goes up and so does the cost of the work.
I want to prevent that so people can can say "I know know a place where you get MORE than you pay for."

Donnie,

When you enter phase II let me know and I'll drive her across I-40... I'm in no hurry, car-related events which I attend go right up to Christmas...

(The Memphis Cuda is up there right now too, no?)
Mike
