I am sure this has been discussed here before (did not find any reference in a search) but after watching the movie "Mystery Date" again for the 20th time I still winced at when they hammered the baby blue 59 Desoto convert.

This time I watched it in high def 1080i on my hd cable and got to see the Desoto in all it's glory. Fun movie but don't watch certain parts, like when they shoot a hole in the trunk or when one character is hammering on the trunk and other parts in a fit of rage.

Here is the only picture I could find of this car (might not be the actual car in the movie) http://www.sportbilen.se/bilder/bilder/desotobilden2.jpg

Anyone else here seen this flick?

Two cars were used in that movie - one was a real Sweep ragtop, the other a de-topped 2HT with what amounted to a pleasure boat top rigged into it. John Fay ended up with this second car and later sold it to a man in Seattle before leaving the area. I sold John a top mechanism to complete the job while he still had the car, but I believe he sold it with the car before doing the work. All this was back about 1992, so much may have transpired since then.
