Expert 5K+ Posts: 7206 Location: Victoria, BC, on Vancouver Island, Canada | Notice that photo of the 60 Dodge wagon above, it has Matador / Polara side trim but has a Dart grille and hood emblem. In Canada they marketed a "Dart Phoenix Sport Suburban" wagon of which 320 were built, which carried the Dart front end and Polara side trim. Since this picture is in Montreal, I would say that this is that extremely rare Phoenix wagon. The US models didn't have any wagons badged as a Phoenix. These Sport Suburban Phoenix wagons carried Plymouth dash boards and interior patterns. Expert Posts: 2002 Location: Branson, MO | Reminds me of when we lived in Michigan. Houghton Lake always had what they called Tip-up-Town for about a two week period that included ice fishing contests, snowmobile events, ice skating, beauty (Miss Tip-up-Town) contest, etc. Everything was on the ice and to my knowledge there never was a car that fell through. They did have an old junker car tethered and for an entry fee you guessed when the car would sink. The winner got quite an array of prizes. Kind of neat and still may be an annual event. | ||

The Type 3 Squareback. Not common these days at all, and 40 years ago they were pretty rare. When I worked for a VW dealer in the parts department in the 1970s I had a 1969 Type 3 Squareback to use as a parts van. It was pretty nippy on the road. Woudn't mind having one again these days.

Expert 5K+ Posts: 7206 Location: Victoria, BC, on Vancouver Island, Canada | 56 Plymouth. What has me wondering though, is the 57 Ford on the right. It looks to be the long wheelbase Fairlane but has side trim from a short wheelbase Ranchero. Fairlanes or Fairlane 500 models never came with that side trim. And this photo is obviously in Canada too. That side trim is similar, but not exactly like the trim on the Ranchero. I've never seen one of those before, that has to be very very rare.
