On the red/white 57 Dodge post from 6/13, notice that its a Coronet (fender nameplate, upholstery, etc.) yet it has Custom Royal lower bumpers with the triple teeth.
Odd.

I don't suppose anyone knows whether the 1956 Chrysler was salvaged from the broken up road. Seems a pity if it had to be abandoned because there was no safe way to get it out of there.

The teeth could be optioned on all models in 57...from the base model Coronet to the top of the line Custom Royal

Ray, I decided to post that pic down in the Nether Region, since I thought it might not be vintage.

Here's one that really begs for more info / explanation about what's going on ???

Looks to be early-mid 60's from the other cars in the street.
Maybe Mopars were not cool in this hood, except for the 60 Plymouth all the other cars seem to be GM models

Have to guess that that photo was taken somewhere in Quebec based on dad's tie, the snow and the 55 or 56 Plodge (no "Belvedere" spear but a Dodge crest in the side swoop)

Or not. ??

Answer me this: Why are the 1956 Chrysler women so tall, towering over the car, and the men so tiny, not even as tall as the car?

That's easy. Back in the day, a tall, striking, well dressed lady and a Chrysler or other luxury car were considered head turners out in public, something that even a short man could aspire to obtain. Trophies indicating a sense of achievement if you will. As a woman, I do not say this sarcastically. As a little girl when these cars were new, my family had a farm market on the William Penn highway. My observations then were you knew who owned every Cadillac, Chrysler, or Lincoln passing by.

That's a good theory Claudia, but actually the height, strange corners of her hips, upturned collars and disproportionately small feet give her away as a Clawdite shapeshifter from the planet Zolan. These shapeshifters (or changelings) often display a low-cut dress when assuming the female humanoid form to divert attention away from the little flaws in their disguise. And this one has cleverly disguised his/her ship controls into the diamond bracelets and necklace that he/she is wearing. Clearly no male humanoid would ever purchase that much expensive jewelry, but this shapeshifter thought he/she could pull it off. But the odd shape of his/her hat shows that he/she has cultural ties to the planet Duro where Cad Bane is from. The Duronians are the only creatures in the universe that would dare to think a hat in that shape looks good. And that makes this particular shapeshifter potentially very dangerous.

Well, fellas, you can make fun of my theory, but I will let the physical evidence speak for itself. Granted, the magazine ads are stylized sketches, but have any of you looked at clothing from the 1950's up close? We as a whole are a lot are much more fatter today than back then. Try to find period clothing to fit you. For a lady, add to that the common practice or wearing a corset or girdle back then and now your are down to a 16" to 18" waist. Small feet? Same deal. I have sewing patterns, knitting and crochet patterns of the 1950's period which I have had since I was a teenager. The dimensions are obvious. If I was to sew or crochet a dress from one of those patterns to fit me today, it would require so many changes in size that it would not be recognized. With all respect to the brothers and sisters here, unless you are old enough to have lived through the 1950's you are looking back in time through today's lenses. No offense, our vintage Chryslers are different by today's standards only. So is the vintage clothing. She is wearing a classic black satin dress with rhinestone jewelry of the 1950's and was proud to do so.

I agree with you and you are spot on. I wasn't making fun of your comment at all, just couldn't resist poking fun at the ad.

Apology accepted, Powerflite. Sadly, I have witnessed too many of the "younger generation" who currently own these cars who will never know what it was like back then despite their best efforts to learn. I was born in 1954 with my first memories being at a scheduled "curb market" in Latrobe, PA with my parents and grandparents selling produce out of the trunks of their cars. The trunk of a '57 Plymouth Fury became the perfect playpen for me. The ladies did come by with hats and gloves on to make their purchases. We also had our roadside market on the highway where I watched cars passing by all day long. That is probably where my fascination of looking at different cars grew and wondered where they were all going. It was a time when a car immediately became a new family member, heavily depended on during its stay, and sadly missed upon its departure. If only these survivors of the Forward Look years could share their personal stories with their current owners - how different our relationships with our cars and car shows would be.

Surely the 'EVIL' plate is not from the fifties or sixties?

Top photo looks like President Harry S Truman pointing at the then under construction Truman Library with possibly his '57 Dodge. I know Harry was pretty much always a Chrysler guy but maybe he had some other MoPars as well.

President Truman had a 1953 Dodge prior to the 1957 Custom Royal, I believe, and a 1960 Polara after the 1957. Floyd Clymer was doing a road test of the 1960 Falcon for his magazine, Auto Topics, touring through Independence when he ran across Truman and his new Dodge. Truman did not seem to be too impressed with the Falcon. Mind you, how could you compare a Polara with a 325 bhp 383 cid V8 and a Falcon with a 90bp 144 cid six.

Bess Truman, Harry's wife, also drove Chrysler products.

Yeah a few years ago, Harry's and Bess' late '40s Chryslers were on display at his library along with one of his presidential Lincoln limos. They are both the same color, light gray, but one is a 2 door and the other a 4 door. and both were in need of a restoration. A couple of years later we visited the Chrysler Museum in Auburn Hills, MI and low and behold both of these cars were on display there and fully restored! I do not know if they are back at his library now or not.

The very last car Harry owned and drove is sitting in his garage at his old home in Independence. It is a green '72 Chrysler Newport 4 door sedan. It can be seen during the summer months when his home is available to the public for viewing.

Below is a photo in front of his home of me with "Harry and Bess" taken in 2015 at the AACA convention held in Independence that year. Oops it came out sideways - anybody know how to fix it? Feel free to do so.
