The Dodge's driver's side lower bumper is a tad too low, too.

It's got the 2-tone steering wheel; that black/white ride must have sold quickly.

Note how un-low its rear suspension is.

Those are probably 8.00 series tires on it; the PLY has 7.50's.

I'm sure I'll ruffle some feathers here, but in my opinion that Imperial looks boring compared to that 57 Mercury behind it.....

I find the photo remarkable in it's contrast of elegant and the kitschy side of fin era styling.

"Boring" would be my side trimless, dog dishie, blackwall wearing, buzzard puke green 58 Plaza.

.... so boring, it's almost interesting !

the imperial symbolizes what i love about the fifties, a clean design, in one of my favorite colors while the mercury is a (fortunately) rare example that not everyone in the fifties had style and taste. the owners probably couldn't wait for the garish, screaming, eye hurting "strong" tasteless colors of the 60s and 70s.

Nice looking 1958 Imperial but the color is not to my taste. Surprisingly "titty pink" seems to have been a popular color for Forward Look cars of the era considering how many of them I have come across in the years since. I don't know what to make of the 1957 Mercury on the other side of the street. That purple color seems too garish for 1958.

Ford was scrambling... they were late to the fins game and made some fugly stuff. Slap fins and chrome on everything everywhere!

In 57, fords cars looks like giant fish eyed ugly beasts.... Chrysler had a much better design. Chevy was better than Ford also...

Seriously they looked like one of those bug eyed sharks in 57... Lets not forget the ford edsel... Ford totally ripped off Chrysler in 58 after they got owned... 59 was still pretty fugly for ford.

Wow.....talk about some anger issues!!!! That purple should actually be red, if the picture was developed correctly.....so I guess every red and black Mopar is ugly??? Also, I'm pretty sure the 59 Fords won a couple of design awards, not that I'm thrilled with them....how many did the Imperials win??? Why don't you give me the types of cars you own, Mike...then maybe I can thoroughly trash everything you own??? Ford was number 1 in sales in 1957 and 1959. Believe it or not, that's actually what car makers are in business for....TO SELL CARS!!! When cars don't sell, they cancel them....kinda like Edsel in 1960 and Desoto in 1961. How many years did any Chrysler product win a sales race??? You people need to lighten up....

Some of you people are as snobish as Corvette owners....

What do the F-word websites have to say about Forwardlookers (or Chubbies)?

Wow, sidesho bob, from your list I would say you are enamored with Ferd products. To each his own. The biggest complaint I have with Ferd products of that era is their engineering does not compare with Chrysler products.
