I remember the 331 engine thing. Which has to be a transplant. A D500 should be a 325 in 1957 and a D500-1 should be a 354, if I have learned anything from you guys.

Extreme Veteran Posts: 494 Location: Alberta | I was just joking around with my comment about checking the "Data Plate" as this has been the flavour of the day since 61Imp. incredible find after so many years. That being said this restoration didn't follow the restoration rules……LOL so maybe the data plate may just be a 27 there's always a chance.I don't recognize this unit there was a 69 Dart (Gold) done with a similar power train in HotRod Mag. recently

I was pretty excited to find that bucket of bolts. This 57, not real. pulled the 331 out of a 56 looks like, as the power steering pump behind generator is not on anything in 57! -Ryan (17884621_10212558911191803_8472775269536841591_n (1).jpg) Attachments ---------------- 17884621_10212558911191803_8472775269536841591_n (1).jpg (146KB - 76 downloads)

Extreme Veteran Posts: 494 Location: Alberta | To re coin a phrase "I run what I a Brung" comes to mind here. The 331 likely had the generator/power steering pump combo or borrowed possibly from a 56. That's the reason I mentioned check the data plate someone likely put this together with what was at hand. It appears to be neat and clean with not much attention for originality.

Extreme Veteran Posts: 494 Location: Alberta | That's good news on the 325 and a torqueflite,I was a bit worried that I might have to donate the one I have…………LOL I could see from here that finding a 325 would be a challenge.Where did you pick up the 325 ? there hasn't been many of those offered for sale anywhere and up here in Canada I probably have the only 2 KD 500's as Chrysler had the edge on HEMI engines in Canada back in the day.I'm working on a 354 4bbl or should I say gently massaging it back to life.It runs great the oil pressure and vacuum are very good so I want to put that in my 2dr sedan . Good luck and keep us posted for sure
