Expert Posts: 3887 Location: Northen Virginia | I have a $154 Edelbrock fuel pump that quit last night, apparently it is not a repair kit for it, so it is a very expensive disposable item. I probably did 500 miles to it but spent a long time sleeping in the car, since i don't use it that much. Fortunately I had an electric pump back up who brought me back home. I see that they are $20 pumps at rock auto, any idea if they are any good? Specially for cars are not been used daily like mine. Expert Posts: 2996 Location: Sept. 1958 | My 61 NYer has one of those cheaper replacements. Runs fine, been on there maybe 10-15 years. Bought a 2769S core that I’ll install sometime. Who sells fuel pump rebuild kits? Denis, could you check your NYer, is there a spacer under the carburetor? I installed a 3134S over the weekend and dialed it in. But with just a thin gasket it didn’t mount flush with the intake. Either there should be a spacer or the heads of the bolts for the choke are too tall. Someone had installed an incorrect looking spacer and thicker gaskets.

One Chevelle SS owner requried specially the Edelbrock pump. I noticed that it did not give full capacity, but it still works, BUT that car has not been drive 500 miles yet......

Thanks a lot guys, I already order one of those carter pumps. yes the looks sucks but what are you going to do. I still have the original and another NOS but the idea of Ethanol in a 60 year old rubber it is just not appalling to me. Matt, it is a company selling kits, it was recommended by Ron in another post...No it was not special gasket on my carb except the regular grey one. The studs are pretty short for adding a Bakelite gasket in there. I'm running and Edelbrock carb and is working fine. https://www.then-now-auto.com check them out!

Expert Posts: 3768 Location: NorCal | I believe the Edelbrock pump is just a copy of the old Carter 3-valve pump. One of these might work: https://www.manciniracing.com/camefupureki.html

Expert Posts: 3887 Location: Northen Virginia | Hi Guys, Chuck: Product Id: EDL-1723 Thanks for the link John I'm going to take it apart and check. reply from summit racing Hello Denis, Unfortunately, Edelbrock does not make any rebuild kits for their mechanical pumps. You will likely have to purchase a new one. We appreciate your business Thank you, Summit Racing Equipment Customer By CSS Email (Denis) (03/22/2021 08:32 AM) Product Id: EDL-1723

Expert Posts: 3887 Location: Northen Virginia | well Sven, the kit cost almost $70 too, apparently buying this generic Carter pump seems the most affordable option. Now, restoring an original pump is a matter of try and error as far i can see.

Board Moderator & Exner Expert 10K+ Posts: 13042 Location: Southern Sweden - Sturkö island | I have only renovated Olds dual action pumps (vaccin and fuel) recently Denis. The kits was expensive and still needed some work. The pumps works very nice through. You're right $70 plus the work is too high
