I am building a 1958 Dodge Regent and would like to keep a Mopar color on it. We found a Dupont paint chip book and like the color!!! Any pics appreciated!!! Based on my experience trying to find somebody to make me some 56 Dodge metallic Royal Blue poly. paint, I say "Good Luck". Nobody local to us (Vancouver area) can make those old paints. You will be better off going to some place like Concept Finishes on Bridgeport in Richmond and talking to Cody Cox and then go through their colour chips to find a modern paint that you might like as much and they can make for you. I've had good luck getting a match for my light blue by Vince and Lordco on Kingsway near Royal Oak. Here are some 58 Dodges in blue: There are a couple of nice blues for the 1968 Dodge Dart for example. https://www.flickr.com/photos/splattergraphics/6323548892 Edited by 56D500boy 2018-11-04 1:09 AM

Veteran Posts: 154 Location: Locked in my Canadian garage.... | We can make the paint here no problem. Just want to see what the color looks like in pics on cars. I saw that pic when I googled, very close. We have the paint code for Sapphire metallic, will probably just do a sprayout card. Sometimes the forums aren't the world's most helpful, but every once in a while somebody comes through, so my fingers are crossed

Sometimes the forums aren't the world's most helpful, but every once in a while somebody comes through, so my fingers are crossed Everyone I talked to local to me, e.g. Concept Finishes, Vancouver Auto Finish, Lordco all said that having the code was meaningless because the formulations were based on paints that do not exist anymore. IF you have some way to make the paint, fanatastic. I will get you to make me some 56 Dodge Royal Blue poly. I bought this to take to them and they gave me the answer above, i.e. "Those formulations are based on paints that do not exist anymore": Edited by 56D500boy 2018-11-04 11:23 AM (ACME56DodgePaintCodes_1_small.jpg) Attachments ---------------- ACME56DodgePaintCodes_1_small.jpg (226KB - 163 downloads)

Veteran Posts: 154 Location: Locked in my Canadian garage.... | Paul has a paint guy and Paul said NOOOOO problem. I showed him your reply last night and he said no, he can get the paint made. It's not cheap but not a problem either. I won't go for modern color. My car is NOT stock, will have four wheel disc brakes and lots more power than sensible, but not a chance I will go with new car colors. I'm weird that way!!

I showed him your reply last night and he said no, he can get the paint made. It's not cheap but not a problem either. Well...You're lucky you have such good connections to an Autobody shop. Like I said, both Concept Finishes and Vancouver Autocolor (now Finish Master) who supply paint (mixed and unmixed) to autobody shops said that the 56 Dodge Royal Blue metallic paint could not be made from the old info. So I gave up. I'm using a 92 Dodge Neon Intense Blue Pearl (brighter and more iridescent than the original) because a closer match was a GM colour. No way I was using that. Good luck. Dave F. Veteran Posts: 154 Location: Locked in my Canadian garage.... | I will have Paul's paint rep mix the paint, not Paul. His paint rep is second to none. Paul has him mix the paint for all his personal cars. Paul's paint rep matched the paint for the Nova that my best friend who passed away had done his door jambs and window edges with, he not only flawlessly matched the color, he painted the Nova for me himself!!! He's incredible honestly.. (Nova3.JPG) Attachments ---------------- Nova3.JPG (226KB - 181 downloads)
