I'm looking for a set of uncut tail light towers for my 57 Fireflight. I'd like a good clean set but could settle for a left if that's all I can find. Mine is toast.

Thank you, Doug

Doug: I think the PNs are 1689938 and 1689939 (from page 307 of 1268 of the Mopar Parts pdf). I then googled those numbers and they seem correct (other folks have looked for them). I searched at eBay, Collectors Auto and Len Dawson's websites and got nothing. Sorry.

Good luck.

Thanks for trying. Tried all my sources too and nothing. The left tower on mine is broken. The pieces that holds the bottom tail light is broken off. Looks like they tried to glue one from another tower.

Doug: JB Weld and maybe some thick aluminum are your friends in this case. Since it will be hidden and only you will know, fix what you have and continue to look at swap meets,eBay etc. Chances are you would find one with the mounting ears intact but pitting on the exposed side. Better to have shiny chrome on the outside and a hidden patch (or two) on the inside.

Just my 2 cents.

Yup, have to use what I have for now. I've done a crude repair for now. By the way should have mentioned the one in the picture is not mine.

You should try to repair it with muggy weld. It is a solder made specifically for zinc die cast. That is your best bet and you can file it back into the proper shape afterward. Finding a perfect replacement is going to take years of waiting and a lot of $$ when it does pop up, if ever.

Never heard of muggyweld but just looked it up. Would I use the super alloy 1?

Yes, you need the lowest temperature solder you can get, and this one at 350F is made just for pot metal.
