OK maybe this isn't the place for this. Ok I'll pay a fair price for stuff. Desert Valley has a couple of '60 Fury's in not so good complete, not much left. The one I contacted them about has a car sitting on top of it, has the engine- 6 banger, no windshield, has a seat bottom sticking out of the windshield over the engine. As I said I will happily pay fair prices. But when a car looks like it's next step is a crusher maybe they wont charge a premium for hard to get or rare. No way in hell. This is the exact cost's I received.

Note for the trunk floor, I only need a small section of the right. It is around 28" by 22" or so. The drop down. From the right rear wheel opening, about 2" back, and about 5-6" above chrome trim line down to the bottom at the body lip. Yeah the entire trunk seal are. I know where there is a car I can buy, but would not be worth it to me simply because it is a 4dr and only a couple things I need and wrong windshield but I can get the car for $1,200.00 plus shipping of about $500.00. Note the prices I received do not include shipping so I bet that would be around $100-200.00 don't know.

Here are the prices and maybe someone can correct me if I think they are completely out of line. As for the trunk floor I can buy an entire new stamped one from $200.00-$240.00 the whole thing.

Here it is:

Hi,

Full seal area $450.00 trunk drop section $325.00

If you need the trunk floor $800.00

Why don't you call John Foley, BigM. He's in Cal. and most likely has what you want. ( member on this site)

I've had one experience with Desert Valley and I would be very, very hesitant to use them again.

Incorrect/not what was agreed upon parts sent. Accepted the return but took over three months to send some correct parts and credit me back for the parts I returned within a week.

Ended up paying what I felt was an excessive amount for the one part they did finally manage to send.

And they overcharge for shipping - I returned their incorrect parts for half what they charged me to send them to me. And of course they would not even consider refunding shipping charges.

So overall not a good experience.

Wow seems me not the only monkey there with bad experiences. Well thank you about the Bigm. I looked through pics or parts cars and it shows a 4dr. Hopefully, we'll see. However getting a yard to cut something out of the car is a little hard to do as they would rather try to sell the entire chunk.

It has been at least 15 years ago I needed a door glass for one of my cars and bought it from Desert Valley. This was before they were in their TV show and I went to the yard in Casa Grande and picked up the glass in person at a reasonable price and also walked around the yard to see what they had. Fifteen minutes of fame and suddenly their parts are gold plated.

If you want decent prices from Desert Valley, you have to show up in person. They deal with folks all day long that call up and want stuff. They go out to the yard, find the parts, come up with a price and then never hear back. So a wasted effort on their part.

My experience with them was six years ago. I visited both locations, but the Casa Grande location has what most of us are looking for. I spent the better part of a day walking the yard, identified the parts that I wanted and the cars that had them. Each car is numbered so they can reference them in their pictures. They gave me a price on everything. Then I went back into the yard with one of their helpers to show them exactly the parts that I wanted. The helper removed each part and we went back to the office to pay for everything. I bought hundreds of dollars worth of stuff and they ended up giving me a discount. I even went back the next day to buy more stuff. They recognized me and were very friendly.

The secret is to be knowledgable of what you want, have cash with you and be friendly. They don't know whether a part from car A will also fit car B. Don't expect them to look that up, either. You have to know that in advance.

Ron

Yeah I remember the TV show. There web site now says no one allowed in the yard without accompaniment and must make appointment. I'm in Colorado so it's not exactly a hop skip and jump to go to that yard. To me a customer is a customer, especially in today's market. I don't care if it's in person, over the phone or web page a sale is a sale. I know exactly what I want, the car stock # and sent them pictures to verify. Now I get making a buck. To me the car that has what I would like to get seems like it is gold to them. But you pay maybe $1,000.00 for junk car and want to make maybe $20,000.00 off it? Your option and I say good luck. If they are making that kind of money maybe me in the wrong business.

And yes I have tried to deal with them before. This was just the worst of it.

If I had the luxury of visiting in person I would - I love nothing more than a day in a good junkyard. Unfortunately being in PA makes that pretty much impossible.

If I could deal with Big M I would do that also - but this particular vehicle was an IH pick-up.

I had a very detailed conversation with a very helpful gentleman at Desert Valley - there was NO question what I wanted/needed (clutch and brake pedals, all associated linkages, AND a 12" section of the frame that contained the pedal pivot mount/bushing), and while expensive I felt the original agreed upon price was reasonable considering the work that would have to be done. I also needed a sheetmetal panel on the firewall to enclose the cowl vent. Initially they quoted $40 on the panel, but when they told me $450 for the pedals/linkage/frame section I asked if they would throw the cowl panel in for free - they agreed. I paid by card - so they had my money that day.

What I was sent was not even close to what we had discussed. I got the pop-up cowl vent, and a box of linkage. No pedals, No frame section. No firewall cowl panel.

Clearly the communication problem was between the order taker and the guy pulling parts. Which makes it their issue to resolve - not mine. Yet in the end it took months, and I ended up paying much more than the originally quoted $40 for the cowl panel.

In my book that's not just bad customer service, but simply not caring about the customer at all.

Actually few things could makes me happier. Nothing is more annoying than a fine car in the hands of an ignorant fool, who can't lose an argument without making unrelated insults and denunciations.

Some people love Mopars, others like Stelantis'. Nothing wrong with that, to each his own.
