Location: So. Cal		Really nice car, but it's always disappointing to see the interior not to original specs on a car of this caliber. It's not like what he has done is better than the original IMO. And he used the correct fabrics (except for wrong colors in certain places), so he could have easily made it more original if he wanted to.

I take issue with his statement that the '57 New Yorker is the 2nd generation of New Yorkers. New Yorkers have been around since 1938. So the '57 model is actually the 5th generation New Yorker. Maybe he meant the 2nd generation of forward look Chryslers?

New Yorkers:
1st Gen: 1938-1942 (straight 8)
2nd Gen: 1946-1948 (harmonica grille, |8)
3rd Gen: 1949-1954 (V8 hemi with wet intake replaces |8 in 1951)
4th Gen: 1955-1956 (Forwardlook with dry intake hemi V8, 300 letter series submodel introduced)
5th Gen: 1957-1959 (Large vertical fins, big block begins in '59)
6th Gen: 1960-1962 (Unibody, Canted fins, last of the Forwardlook)
7th Gen: 1963-1964 (transitional years)
8th Gen: 1965-1968 ("slab sided" C-body)
9th Gen: 1969-1973 ("fuselage" series C-body)
10th Gen: 1974-1978 (Last real C-body & big block engines)
11th Gen: 1979-1981 (R-body series)
12th Gen: 1982-1988 (2 different versions, M-body & K-car)
13th Gen: 1988-1993 (FWD, Mitsu V6)
14th Gen: 1994-1996 (FWD, Mitsu V6)

I think the interior looks very period correct, even if it isn't 100% OE. The non-OE throw pillows for the back seat are a nice touch (IMO).

Just an opinion.

Location: Lubbock, TX		Absolutely, that's one of the prettiest interiors I've seen in a FL car in awhile. Only improvement I would've made was a Swivel Seat.

Location: So. Cal		It's nice, but the dash is ugly compared to the original. The original used 2 different colors of vinyl & paint. He's eliminated one of those colors and substituted a white in there. The gauge pods look silly in white and Chrysler wasn't dumb enough to ever do that. I guess he's trying to match everything to the upper part of the steering wheel? The painted steering wheel is OK, but the lower blue on it would have matched the original second color that he eliminated, better. He swapped positions of the pleats from below to above on the door panels, similar to a '58 Saratoga style. It looks nice like that, but not any nicer than the original does. Also, that fabric was never used on the door panels. Fabric on the door panels was a deluxe interior upgrade, and used a different style of fabric. But that substitution I do like better than the original. The deluxe interior fabric is very nice, but not as neat as the base level fabric design. It's really the missing second color and white substitution that I don't like about it.

Location: Finland		Beautiful interior , but I agree that the original color on all gauge pods would have been better. And the steering wheel black/whitish. And the dash pad black.

A layperson doesn't notice this, and only a few people here.
But it usually increases the price a bit and I would still like to drive this example

You are right Nathan, the white dash and radio looks ugly, but its easy to change.....

Location: So. Cal		The dash pad wasn't originally black, it was a darker blue. That darker blue went on the dash pad, gauge pod back plate, all 4 door panels, the lower part of a plastic steering wheel etc. In 1957, the darker color went on the bottom of the steering wheel, and the lighter on top. In 1958, they reversed it. I guess you could go through and paint & dye everything. This is what a '57 New Yorker dash would look like in green. The blue version was just like this, but in the blue shades, of course. So much better looking, IMO.

Location: Finland		Nathan , I am sure that the dash pad on my Newyorker was black and original...it was a two color car with shell pink as main color.
