Veteran Posts: 211 Location: Northern Illinois | Hello all, finally have some time to post about my first forward look car, (previously into 60's-70's era mopars) 55 dodge custom royal 270 hemi with powerflite. Bought the project march of 2018. a basic roller car that probably should have been a parts car, however i felt like i saved it from certain death. No motor, needed floors and passenger rocker panel, and basically the whole interior. i wanted it as a good driver and never a show car. Started on finding a 270 hemi engine, that took a year to find. rebuilt the engine, im a 30 year honda master tech so did everything myself. remove dash and rewired the whole car with correct color and gauge wiring also converting it to 12 volt. with the help of my father in law patched in floor boards and rocker panels. sourced an original set of seats and new carpet. i can say its been quite a project but now i have the enjoyment of driving it daily like it was meant to. so with all that being said and done to the car, i now have a 1956 dodge custom royal 2 door hardtop sitting in my garage (pictures soon) you would think i learned my lesson. ha i guess not. i also want to thank the people ive corresponded on this website over the years. what a great wealth of information that is here! As for the 56 Dodge, you know that I (and Dels56) have some good 56 Dodge knowledge that could help you with that project. You have my email. Edited by 56D500boy 2023-07-02 9:33 PM

Regular Posts: 61 Location: Louisville Ky | Hi Tony - Thanks for the comments. I see that you're from northern Illinois. I was born and raised in Waukegan and lived there for 25 years except for the 2 years that I was in the Army. Your Dodge looks great. I would never attempt a massive project like that. How many years did it take? As far as parts go, would you have a steering wheel or at least a horn ring? My steering wheel has at least 20 cracks in the top part of it. Thanks....
