Location: Parts Unknown | Wow! .... an even better equipped one of these than the one I have ! This is a CUSTOM Sierra, denoted by the interior fabrics, Mylar door panel inserts, and painted headlight bezels. Looks to be a VERY unmolested and correct survivor ! Wish mine was this nice !

First time I have seen the accessory window shades on top of the door windows outside of the accessory catalog. Very cool. Hope someone for this list buys and restores this.

FwdLk56's Third Account Posts: 738 Location: Midwest USA | what's the general "collector perspective" on station wagons? i mean, i get an earful from other collector's and their 2dr rides-of-pride 'cause my '55 is a FOUR-door... (oh, i also got an earful once from a brand-spanking-new Dodge Magnum owner when i called his HEMI-powered ride a "station wagon", he got all bent out of shape and red in the ears and furious with me, "it is NOT a 'station wagon'..." i told him to look up the definition of "station wagon" and report his findings... of which he never did, lol...)

I think folks are appreciating all of the vehicles "more" since so many have been used as parts cars, shipped overseas, etc. The whole "it's a 4-dr, wagons" are bad or undesirable is still prevalent though but becoming much less. I don't think too much about it much less get bothered by it. The hardtops and convt's were always more rare but more commonly seen anyhow. I think it's changing slowly.

FwdLk56's Third Account Posts: 738 Location: Midwest USA | i'm personally a "fan" of the four-door - came "this close" to picking up a two-tone '54 Buick just weeks ago... talked myself out of it only 'cause i "know of" a '56 Fury project car and my "fingers are crossed" that it will still be available come spring time... i'm always on the lookout, i haven't given up on finding a '56 DeSoto ADVENTURER just yet, but the '56 Fury is a VERY close second on my project-car wish-list...

Posts: 19146 Location: bishop, ca | There is no way that the seller, or anyone else, without a month+ standing at the Historical Society's microfilm machine, could determine the number of the 1956 D500 wagons that were built. This is a wonderful car for someone to restore, correctly. Looks like it may have the green interior, along with its white/yellow exterior. The engine gives new meaning to the term "RED Ram V/8". Its got a left-side antenna on it; was that its location, on the 56'ers?---or maybe, NORS to the car. I'll bet that its Broadcast Sheet still resides in the car, somewhere (behind the dash/under the carpeting...) Someone should post up its pics, for posterity. Whatacar! Extreme Veteran Posts: 496 | Neil, The antenna location is correct. I think all '56 and earlier (to '49) used the driver's side fender for the antenna. The wagon is very cool... Aaron

Posts: 19146 Location: bishop, ca | Thanks, Aaron; in its 2/57 issue, MT tested a 57 D500 CR 4-dr sedan, and it had a driver's side fender attached. That's the only vintage-example-photo I've seen where an ostensibly OEM Dodge had an antenna on that side of the car. Of course, it is possible that the dealership installed it there, on a radio-less car.
