This could be internet folklore so take it with a grain of salt.

Thanks for posting this. It is better to have some information than none at all. There are good vendors with great references. Why even take the chance, if someone was treated this way?

Not "internet folklore".Go here and ask about Mr G's. You'll get a real education. Vacuum Platers is about the best there is.

In fairness, I will say my experiences with Mr. G's have been very good. I have purchased instrument bezels, a stainless screw package and several clips and fasteners.

Because they are local, when I needed an instrument bezel replated, I was able to look at and choose from their stock. I selected a part that was very nice and looked more original than replated. Not all of them looked that nice. He explained that there is only so much they can do to repair dents, cracks, chips, etc, so if the part you want to replate is in bad shape, there is no way they can make it look perfect.

Like most businesses, they have several people working for them and not everyone is as good at customer relations as they should be and we all have our bad days. On the days I visited, I found them to be friendly, patient and helpful.

I have no axe to grind with anyone, but after seeing what unjustified internet slandering did to a friend's business, I have really become skeptical of what I read on revenge web sites.

Had two bad experiences with the G man. Lost a delete plate but had plenty at the nationals. Rocket scientist? Sent perfect core for 67 GTX glove box and got back a repaired piece of junk. Told me you don't get the same part back that you send them, just whatever comes down the pike. Gave him a second chance and he failed! SHAME SHAME!!!
