| Starting tearing into my 56 Desoto Fireflite 2 dr....rear jackpot has a casting of 1401488 (or last digit might be a 6). I know it is not the original because it was changed it out when I was 21...am now 52...yes I have had the car that long.
Also the rear e/brake drum has a larger center section than the Desoto e/brake drum (I am talking where the front of the driveshaft bolts up to the e/brake drum: the Desoto is about 4" in Diameter.......the drum that is on the car is about 4.25 or so........did Chrysler have a bigger outside surface "face" than the Desoto e/brake drum)
Staring to source correct parts etc. after years in the garage...curious what this is out of....thanks.

Location: Chestertown, NY ( near Lake George) | Desoto and Chrysler shared the same transmissions, pretty sure the e brakes were the same. |

Location: Alaska | There are 2 different diameters of the ball and trunnion type joint. One was used for 6 cyl. cars and a larger one for V8s. I don't remember the exact sizes. |

| I just picked up a 56 Fireflite 2 dr for parts (VERY rusty...zero body parts salvageable) but complete...drivetrain is still in it...guess I will measure ball end diameter when I take it out..
I am FINALLY putting together the 56 Fireflite 2dr Ht I have had since was 21...now 52...and last one in college....almost done. ;-)
Looking for a driver's door and a R/F fender....
Thanks..... |
