Regular Posts: 89 Location: Hastings Mn | I just purchased a 61 New Yorker and the vinyl dash pad needs replacing. Does anyone know of a company that does these older dash pads? The top of the steering wheel could use some help too.

Expert 5K+ Posts: 7210 Location: Victoria, BC, on Vancouver Island, Canada | Hi Frank, welcome to the Forum. New dash pads are available from Dust Dashes, http://justdashes.com/ There is also a Swedish Company, RD Autoline http://www.autoline.se that reproduces them. Steering wheel re-casting is done by Quality Restorations, http://qualityrestorations.com/chrysler.html and there is also someone in Sweden who does them. My 60 Chrysler has a new pad from Just Dashes, and the steering wheel was also re-cast by Koch's but they no longer do the clear wheels. The 1961-62 Chrysler dash pad reproductions have the lines in them just like the originals. The 1960 pads are plain. This page from Just Dashes shows them doing a 1961-62 Chrysler dash. http://justdashes.com/61_chrysler.html Edited by imopar380 2013-12-25 11:03 PM (wheel1.JPG) Attachments ---------------- wheel1.JPG (222KB - 144 downloads)

I found the quality and price of the RD Autoline pad hard to beat. Edited by 56300B 2013-12-25 10:33 PM

Thanks, Ray | ||

Extreme Veteran Posts: 480 Location: The Great Northwest | I bought mine from the RD Autoline's Southern California distribution center almost two years ago and the price was significantly lower than the price given from Just Dashes. Maybe things have changed since then but the quality of the 61 dash pad from RD is what I was looking for.

Thanks, Ray It was also painted as far as I know. It was installed in the car when I bought the car. I talked a lot with Tony @ RD about this painted dash - he told me that all the OEM dashes actually was made from black vinyl and painted thereafter. I just checked a sample from my old OEM dashpad and I can at least confirm that my OEM dashpad was black vinyl that was dyed/painted/colored. I would recommend RD's products, since I bought from them and I'm very pleased with my dashpad. As I don't have any insight on the Just Dashes products, I can't add anything either for nor against them.

Regular Posts: 89 Location: Hastings Mn | Thanks everyone for the responses. I will call both dash places on Thurs and check them out. My dash looks to be black unless it's faded out. The car has a grey and black interior. I don't spend much time online as I have so many fun projects to work on. From what I have seen so far this forum is great so I'll have to check it out more.

Extreme Veteran Posts: 314 | I had no idea factory colored dash pads were actually black, just painted. Sure makes my life easier if I decide to do a color change....
