on the 59 dodge heater control assembly If I recall correctly.... I thought the buttons lit up with light from some source . I don't recall a light bulb anywhere plugging into the switch. Maybe it never lit up with lights on ? do You recall ?

While they did not have a built-in bulb like the gear selector housing, they receive illumination from a bulb inside the dash itself. Why else would they be made in translucent bakelite ?

I checked my spare parts and found some instruments cluster. The bulb unit is inserted rear the instuments, orange cable. The light then goes out trough the window to the heater switch (01).

Well, there we go, that answers everything Serge . the light is projected thru the con curved slot towards the heater buttons. I knew there was some kind of light source to the heater buttons.Thanks Serge !
