A 4 year restoration project almost complete, the car is back on the road. Not my car, I'm just a fan of the channel. This project was controversial a few years back because it was made by splicing two cars to make one. The results speak for themselves. One more Forward Look car saved! |

He destroyed cars that were very fixable to re make (not restore) that car.

Location: So. Cal | To be fair, Mike, you also pulled a number of parts off of BigM cars that could have been saved as well. It's just the way the game is played. Use parts from other, less desirable cars to make what you want to drive. |

Exactly my opinion and that is what I posted under one of his vids. IIRC we had a short discussion 
This stunt was clearly pulled, to create YT content. How ingenious.... Of course he finished it, he had to, after announcing it on YT and in 3-4 years you can create a Bondo blop, that looks like a fine car.
Too bad a rust free 60 Dart had to die for a YT script. Every talented panel beater had this done probably easier and better without the waste of a car, that survived 60 years, til it fell into the hands of an "Internet Personality". Oh yes and he destroyed an ultra rare 60 Fury Hardtop too, IIRC.... |

It is something different if you buy parts from a rusted out, picked over car, that nobody would/could have saved anyway. If you buy a rust free complete body, from a rust prone, one year only model, almost 60 years after it rolled of the assembly line to cut it apart, you are robbing it away from real car enthusiasts and in this case just to create YT content.
This guy, with his blatant beard and they way he talks, can act "old timer" and collect cars as long as he want, he can't fool me. No one with a real love for these cars and things would have done this. And yes, I use to be a big fan of cold war motors.

Location: Blythewood, SC | The 4dr Dart that was used for a chassis had been for sale for a long time before it was used in this project. No one bought it to restore in the years it was for sale. Scott used it to fix the Plymouth, and if he didn't the Dodge would never have been finished. The Plymouth had terminal rust and was nothing more than a parts car. The other parts car was also a rust bucket that only had a few good parts. What Scott did is no different than buying a parts car to save another project, or buying parts off a junkyard car. |

If have restored worse than the 60 Fury 4 door and I live in Europe. Living in that area, with all the sources of really gone cars and parts and without the shipping problem, it would have been back on the road in no time. What is "terminal rust" anyway? |

You guys need to start buying these 4 door sedan projects... because they are literally worthless and being scrapped for the few parts that will work on 2 door cars... and being crushed... tossed in the trash...

Well said. The generation that is actually going to restore any of these cars is winding down.
Agree. The latest generation (whatever they are called) would be looking for an "APP" to do a restoration.
I am actually surprised that they don't need an APP to wipe their butts.
They (mostly) do NOT relate to older cars, so they just don't care. In any event, they most likely won't have any "skillz" to physically restore a 50's (or 60's or 70's) car. (High "skoolz" don't have "Shop" anymore, they have classes to learn how to create more "APPS"). (We're doomed) 
All that and, in this case, a totally (mostly) undesirable 4 dr "died" to save a 2 dr hardtop (top of the "food chain")
My car is a 4 dr and I know that whatever condition that it is in, it is worth less than a 2 dr hardtop.
So, in my opinion, saving a hardtop from death by rust by any means is commendable and worthy of praise, not condemnation.

After making that post, I went to Youtube and started watching Coldwarmotors videos about the restoration of the 60 Fury. This guy is definitely worthy of heaps of praise regarding all the work he has put into saving the original car with parts from the 60 Dart sedan and a 60 Belvedere that were likely never going to be restored. He is a bit of a technical magician, right down to beating his own patch panels when none of the parts cars had anything good to offer.

Though, it would be better to keep the coverage short and more to the point. I don't have time to watch a full hour of rambling. I could be rambling in my own garage during that hour. |
