I don't know specifically about your car, but in general, cars from '57-'59 had a thin cardboard barrier in the trunk. It's purpose seems to be aesthetic more than as a barrier of any kind.

I think I will make one out of abs . one question > would that board hook on where the seat does ?

Here's a picture of the divider board in my '58 DeSoto when I first removed the rear seat after it had sat in a shed for 46 years. As you can see, it was also covered by a thin plastic sheet, but that could've been added when the seats were redone in the late 60's.
