Location: Muskego, WI | Just thought I'd share my experience so hopefully you don't have to relive my struggle. At the end of the season last year, my car developed a pretty bad leak through the seal of the power steering gear output shaft. All the information that I could find pointed me toward seal 12350 from SKF. The seal was indeed the right inner and outer diameter, but it was too tall. Once installed, I could not re-install the retainer snap ring.
After looking through SKF's catalog, the correct part number was determined to be 12337. This seal is the same design but the correct height to match what came out of the car so the snap ring will fit. The seal is FKM instead of NBR, but both are compatible with AFT. |

As suggested, the 12337 is thinner at 0.25" compared to the thicker 12350 at 0.313" (probably 0.3125"). The other dimensions are the same. Lip materials are different, as stated.

Location: San Antonio, TX | Unfortunately I've got a leak at the output shaft of my 57 De Soto Fireflite. Just happened after driving it recently. It had sat for a while. Pretty bad leak. How can I find the correct seal for this application? Thanks |

Location: Muskego, WI | Honestly, your best bet is to remove the leaking seal and get the part number and dimensions from it before you try to order a new part. |

Location: So. Cal | I replaced the bottom seal on my '58 Fireflite before I ended up getting it rebuilt. I was able to get the seal from Rockauto. '58 is different from '57 though, but you could give them a try. |
