| I have a 63 300 coupe parts car with complete 383 underhood and dash wiring harness.
I want to use wire harness complete from 63 300 on a 61 Plymouth.
I have one that is rat chewed and cut up in places.
My question for you guys is. Do you guys think it would work on a 61?
I'm aware of junction block at firewall that will need to be adapted
I was thinking that everything may be the same underdash wise.
Opinions or advice?

Location: Ohio | It can be done but will require some modifications. The dash wiring harnesses are “similar” but not “identical”. For example the leads to the gauges and bulbs for the dash maybe shorter, longer or not existent. Does the dash use an oil gauge or oil light ?
Other things to consider is how to use the forward harnesses from both years. The 61 forward harness is integrated into the main dash harness whereas the 63 is probably separate. Depending may have to use / combine the forward harness as they may have different style connectors for the side marker lights, engine configuration etc.
Does the wiring harness out of the 1963 300 have an actual fuse panel ?
That would be one advantage to swapping.
From my own experience when comparing the wiring harnesses out of 1960-64 Dodges, the best advice is to lay both harnesses out side by side and mark each wires function with masking tape to determine which wiring is similar and what’s missing.
This is exactly what I did when repairing a hacked up harness in a 1960 Dodge by using parts of one from another year.

Location: Connecticut | Trying to jury-rig a harness from a different make and year is a nightmare. Different colors and lengths. Different connectors. Missing wires. Old, brittle wire, etc. Why not just make a new harness from scratch ? Use the old one as a template. Buy the correct gauge and color at Napa or online. Use the schematic in the shop manual. Do it once and do it right. Ron |

| Thanks for replies, my thoughts about doing this are that the dash functions would be the same. The lighter, radio, wiper switch, headlight switch etc are all in the same place running at the same voltage?
It would just be a matter if the plug ends would be the same? |

| I use the factory as ron stated as a template and just run all new wires. I reuse the connectors if I can get them apart to crimp in new wires. I've pulled wire harnesses from same year, some model vehicles and found they are different for some ungodly reason. Heck even fuse box fuse locations have been different. |
