1957 Chrysler New Yorker for sale. This car has some killer patina. Has the original 392 hemi that fires over. The interior had old man plastic seat covers on seats so the interior survives remarkably well. Dry Colorado car. I was going to get it running and drive it with this paint job but decided I need to get my 300G done instead of having another project. Asking $12,999 email herg fest (make it one word) at hotmail.com or call at two oh six 8 four 9 2 four 9 two

OK I'll bite. What do you think its worth then? I can't find any other New Yorker projects out there for comparison. Obviously I started too high on my price cause it hasn't sold yet. I know a couple of the convertibles went nuts (thanks Mike), the hardtops seem to be in the $30-40k range, if you can find one for sale. I think this one is a good value due to the interior being decent, the exterior not an east coast rust bucket, and the 392 Hemi being a runner. Even the eyebrows above the headlights are solid. Of course being in the middle of the new black plague doesn't help.

A fully restored car could see more than 40k depending but yes 30-50ish is the final range (50k for a concourse probably).

it runs and drives? That radiator doesn't look healthy... interior is falling apart?

how is the gas tank?

your talking 3 pictures here.

You can buy a good rebuild able hemi for 3-4k(itll run you 3-5k to rebuild, trust me i know), add a rusty NY 2 door HT? Not sure how rusty.

Also you might be better on Ebay, we have rusty projects I would expect 8-9k the going price, leaning toward 8 now.

It is a rare project car, but its a project car and going to requires TONS of work, yes it may/may not require a ton of welding work but that is a minimal part of taking apart an entire vehicle and restoring each bolt piece by piece. I think ebay would be your best bet for a quick sale, maybe find someone who also wants the patina look(most don't) then its maybe worth it to him.

classic auto trader, hemmings... craigslist... are probably better options to sell than here.

I didnt find your car on craigslist. I did find two nice 392 hemi projects, 2800$ and 3500$ that complete 3500$ with tranny one is interesting

I don't care what anybody says, but unless you have a convertible or rare high performance package car (Fury, D-500, Adventurer, 300) or a '57/'58 Plymouth 2 door hardtop the prices are down and coming down more. In general, younger people aren't interested in these dinosaurs and the older people that own most of them are beginning to die off. Result is more supply and less demand.

I can't be certain, but I thought there was a similar or perhaps nicer '57 New Yorker that sold before coronavirus for about $7500. If I find it, I will post it for comparison.

the real issue is, car collectors don't even know they want these

They haven't seen one the kids go to car shows and they literally have NEVER seen a 57 dodge, a 59? nope.. Desotos? nope they thing those are 40's cars.

Christine is the only car they can kind of recognize but they don't see them in person.

There are so many FWL cars ive never seen in person and I attend alot of car shows, even mopar shows.   At a mopar show your lucky if you see one or two and

many are sedans.    I went to the Chrysler Nats(i think the largest drag mopar event huge car show).. there was a ratted out 59 Plymouth, a 59 Imperial Sedan in the car corrall and there was a 60 Phoenix convert).

Thats it, like thousands of cars, there were more 70's boats chryslers than FWL's.  Hell there were 10 Dodge Neons.  You "might" see one cross the block at Mecum.

When you go to a Good guys show... virtually no exposure.  I think Graveyard cars put Christine back on the map a little.

Jay Leno does a few cars(57 Imperial, 300 cars occasionally).

I would think a 392 Hemi New Yorker would have more value than a Saratoga. I put a new set of spark plug wires on it, did a remote start system, and after soaking the cylinders for a week it fired up for about 20 seconds. Just wanted to see if it would run. To get it back on the road would need radiator, gas tank, brakes, fix some wiring issues, etc. But it does run. If it wasn't for the burn out foam on the front seats you could get away with just doing the seat inserts. I think the back seat is savable.

The '58 Canadian Windsor / US Saratoga, is available again. Had a couple of false starts but in the current climate anything is possible or not......The New Yorker is obviously more desirable than my car, but considering they only made this body style for two years and a lot of them became parts cars for the letter series, both these cars are in a league of their own.

darn that windsor is cool. You could drive and restore that thing once you put the new motor in.

The New yorker, yes the 392 gives it a big bump. But that Windsor could be road ready quickly.

That NYer has alot more work to be in any form drivable. both are cool but i like the rarity of the Windsor I just bought a new rust bucket so im tapped out or I would probably go after that Windsor.

Gary , it’s pretty simple things are just quiet at the moment with the unknowns of life . The US dollar is bad for us customers in Australia and most have to many projects anyway , so that puts a lot of overseas buyers out. I follow 57 New Yorkers in good and bad condition And there virtually isn’t any out there as you say . I am surprised that someone in Sweden hasn’t bought it as their shipping is less and their dollar is better than ours , but if they need full resto they normally want a pretty good deal . You car is hard to price as a good one doesn’t seem to bring as much as a dodge for some reason and to restore a car properly is 2-3 times more work and money than most people want to admit . So I guess you have to wait for the right buyer and hold out for them or Accept the best offer . I’d hold out and put it in on eBay to get worldwide exposure , as many older buyers stil aren’t in Facebook . Being 2020 and a fairly dry car I think it’s worth around $10k . I would want to see totally clear shots of the floor top and bottom as well as the trunk floor , as to do them properly depending on how bad they are is a big job as I’ve done it , and most people like to gloss over how good or bad their floors and rockers are .
But this guff about people not getting into old cars like these like people are saying is absolute garbage. 57 New Yorker coupes are one of the only cars I’ve ever laid my eyes on that looks good from any angle . People are only just discovering these cars , so the boom of them is yet to come as long as the world doesn’t end first lol !
You’ve got a great car Gary and hope you find the right guy soon .
