While doing some research for my ongoing 04 Durango repair, I found this site. I thought it may interest some folks here.

The hemi in my wife's 04 Durango broke a rod. I have since found thru searching on the www that this is common. 2 issues: first version of the plastic cowl grill allows to much water to flood the top of the engine, and second, the intake starts to leak, but doesn't set a DTC. One rainy day, and KAPOW! holes on both sides of the block. But it still runs! It is just about removed from the car for replacement.

yeah someone basically gave me a free 2005 Durango that is rust free. It has 4.7 that is locked up.

I was going to swap a hemi in it, but its a pita so I will keep the hemi for my 57 300C.

Yes 04-07 durangos hydrolock from the water in the cowl, its a easy fix. The rods and the retainers are the weak spots on a 04-05 hemi. But they are fine as long as the cylinder isnt full of water

I picked up a 05 Hemi that is perfect though for 200$ a long block(starter, ac, alt, intake etc)...
It had a lifter retainer break. I will rebuild it for 500$ though(bearings, rings, lifters, pushrods).
