Location: Louisiana | I have a running 1956 277 motor for sale. Pulled out of car already, has the factory 4-barrel option. Motor appears to be all original except for water pump. One cylinder has low compression. Transmission shifted into all gears properly.
$250 for motor
$200 for transmission
I can sell individually or together. |

Location: CA | I just thought I'd say that the factory cast iron 4 bbl intakes sell for $350-450 (sometimes higher) alone and yours looks like it has the factory carb too. Just food for thought. Good luck with your sale! |

Based on this page from the 56 Fury brochure, I would think that a 4 bbl 277 might also have the same air cleaner, i.e. the same as any 56 Chrysler 4 bbl.
But I could be wrong.

Location: So. Cal | Yes, Dave, but how was it painted on a '56 Savoy or Belvedere? It wasn't painted the same as a Chrysler or Fury. I'm guessing it was painted in similar fashion as the corresponding 2bbl air cleaners, but I would like to see an original one with my own eyes. All the pictures I can find have been re-done, and who knows if they were originally like that?

Location: Muskego, WI | Great price for the motor given it has the 4 barrel intake.
PowerFlites are hard to sell at any price, most people want to upgrade to the TorqueFlite and if they already have a PowerFlite they're pretty darn reliable. |

Okay. I understand. But finding a 56 Plymouth with a 4 bbl that is unmolested is probably like looking for a photo of a Sasquatch riding a unicorn.
If P28 = 56 Plymouths with 6 cyls and P29 = 56 Plymouths with V8s. SO if Power Pack = 4 bbl carb and dual exhaust, there is only one PN for air cleaner for the P29s with the 4 bbl V8s, including the Fury, i.e. they might all have been gold (?).
As a side note: in looking at these PNs, I see the 56 Dodge D500 air cleaner PN is shared with the D63-1 (Coronet) with the Power Pack. Interesting, I have seen a D63-3 Custom Royal 315 poly Power Pack with a red air cleaner but thought that red was exclusive to the D500. That could further suggest that the gold 56 "Fury" 4 bbl air cleaner might not have been exclusive to the Fury either.

Location: Louisiana | Finsinthemirror, thanks for the info on the 4 bbl intakes, i did not realize they were quite the piece. Being down in Louisiana i figured i would have difficulty selling the motor, maybe i would have better luck just selling the intake and carb so i can ship. |

Location: CA | No problem. You might want to do some research first before you sling the intake and carb by itself. Sometimes there are differences (possibly heads, cam, distributor) in the motors of 'power pack" 4bbl twin exhaust equipped cars but I'm not 100% sure about that. It might be worth looking into since it isn't the ordinary 2 bbl single exhaust version |

If you do decide to rebuild the Power Pack carb, you might want to confirm the Carter number, e.g. 2302S (or SA), and then check out this posting:

or buy the Carter WCFB Service Manual CM448 which is available as a 375 page pdf from the Carburetor Doctor (and others?):

I don't see particular call-outs for Power Pack camshafts for 1956:
